It's obvious to the most casual observer that Putin does not care what any one thinks, beyond his own perception of popularity with the Russian people.

Substantially destabilizing the ruble and eliminating the ability of Russian's elite to travel outside of Russia would likely result in turning the Russian people against Putin.

It seems unlikely, given Europe is dependent upon Russia for oil/gas, mostly from Siberia.

I read somewhere this morning that it may make sense for Ukraine to give Crimea to Russia, given the place has been nothing but a thorn to Kiev. The population is a majority Russian followed by Muslim who hate Russia. The economy is lousy and requires constant propping from Kiev. And the poor Ukraine will get more $ from the EU, US and NATO.

Take your time....you have the rest of your life to waste researching it.

Your integrity as a State is already suspect, since Bush the Torturer already violated 11 international Treaties.....including all 5 Geneva Conventions, the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and three others.

Note that Obama continues to violate those Treaties as well.

2nd and 3rd World States don't have the Disposal Culture Made of Plastic like 1st World States do, and the US has the highest Standard of Living, because Americans have Chlorox Orange-scented Disposable Kitchen Wipes....which is proof the US is superior.

Um, no, that is not what happened.

The Shah had pancreatic cancer. The Shah advised Bill Smith (US Ambassador to Iran) of his intention to abdicate, and his desire for a visa and asylum in the US.

Both the Shah and Smith agreed that Khomeini would be the most effective ruler of Iran. Smith opened up secret talks with Khomeini's people, using the Brits to arrange meetings between US State Department personnel and Khomeini's people on taking control of Iran.

These talks went on for more than a year, and just weeks away from a face-to-face meeting between Khomeini and Smith, the French uncovered what the US doing.

At a mosque in Tabriz, the French DGSE advised their ayatollah (Ayatollah Ruhollah if I'm not mistaken) of what the US and Brits were doing, and after that meeting, there's total chaos as rumors spread of the Shah's abdication and Khomeini's anointment as new head-of-State.

All the ayatollahs are jockeying for position to gain control of Iran...Khomeini's supporters are backing him, and the idiot Carter on the advice of two of his Neo-Conservative-former-Social-Democrats Gary Sick and Zbigniew Brzezinski sent General Huygens (US Air Force) to Iran to convince senior Iranian military officers to take power in coup.

It went down-hill from there.

Your claim of CIA involvement is absurd, fantastical and hallucinatory.

According to Smith, the only people who had knowledge of the secret-back-door-diplomacy between the US and Khomeini were the Secretary of State (Vance if I recall), General Haig who was the US Army Chief of Staff, State Department officials directly involved in negotiations and Carter himself .

The CIA and the two "you-Harvards" Neo-Conservative-former-Social-Democrats Sick and Brzezinski were intentionally left out of the loop, which created some personal problems.

The proper course of action is to do nothing.

In the first place, you're already way behind schedule. You still haven't pacified Afghanistan, you don't have control of Syria, and you don't have control of Iran.

Without control of Iran, you will never regain control of Central Asia -- which Clinton got through his illegal wars.

Without Central Asia, you will never be able to channel money into the eastern Russian territories to pro-US "democracy" groups --- exactly as you've been doing in Ukraine since 1994 -- so that you can provoke Russia into acting, and then setting up a No-Fly Zone so that you can take control of all of the resources in eastern Russia.

Your interest in Ukraine is same as your interest in Serbia-Kosovo-Metohija, Libya and Syria.

You want to deny the Russians any potential allies in the Mediterranean/Black Sea Region, so that Russia cannot port ships or use airbases in those States, and so you control the end-point of sale for oil, natural gas and other minerals coming out of Central Asia so that they are sold in US Dollars and not in Euros or Rubles or basket currencies.

Obama illegally over-threw the Honduran government in July 2009.

Perhaps the US should levy sanctions on itself.

So, what, the Russians are seeking Lebensraum? What's the Russian word for that?

No, the US and Brits gave up most of Europe. The US could have ended the War in March, with control over nearly all of Europe. As it stands, US units were in Czechoslovakia, yet withdrew.

Churchill gave away Eastern Europe at the Yalta Conference.

Regardless, the US could have continued the attack alone and destroyed Russia in 30 days. Soviets would have surrendered around July 1 or so.

Clinton's illegal wars in Central Asia allowed the US to gain control. Russia didn't invade. Russia didn't throw half the hissy fit you all do. Russia just bank-rolled opposition parties and over-threw the illegal puppet-dictators Clinton set up.

And then Russia still didn't invade Central Asia....which has 5x-7x more oil than all of the Middle and North Africa --- and more than the US has and without fracking up the planet.

Of course, that could be due to to the fact that eastern Russia has 2x more oil than all of Central Asia --- which has 5x to 7x more oil than all of the Middle East and North Africa.

Feigned concern by Americans over the Ukrainian people is not even amusing....

Mircea

Fantastical??.. I'm sure you meant "Fanatical" lol

Just your response in bold discredits you from everything you just said. It's a simple fact.

Either you're a Shill or you're just that ignorant. I don't think you understand how offensive your response is to Iranians and other Iranian Americans. You claim the CIA was never involved, so you must have not have heard of that infamous scandal during the Reagan administration, The Iran-Contra Scandal ("Irangate") So you must be oblivious to that Infamous scandal?
