funny how so many hetros are threatened by someone's sexual preference, having to ban mention of it, wanting people to stay in the closet because it offends their sensibilities, like it's catching.

"FEAR"; The gift that keeps on giving. Pervasive and all encompassing, along with seemingly being unrecognizable to those afflicted.
Were religion about anything other than "FEAR", they'd not have such a hard time selling it.
Gays are utterly obsessed with themselves. It's all about them and their gay, gay, gayness. If you don't allow them to constantly wallow in their gay victimization, and their smug gay self-congratulatory parties for 'coming out' and announcing what everybody already knows, then you are a homophobe.

Because heterosexuality, unlike homofascism, is NORMAL. Science says so.

Sounds like the Democrat Party: "Those evil white male Repukes are trying to steal our vaginas and our right to free birth control!"
The kid here is 18 years old. He is already in the Arkansas National Guard. Does that bother you that he is gay and in the Guard? I bet a lot of people who post here would like to open that door again. The students at the high school are probably more accepting of gay people than their parents and the adults in the community. To be fair to the school district they pulled all 7 profiles. It is censorship but they can do that. The thing about year books is they come out during the last week of school. After that they sit on a shelf for years and get an occasional glance. At least the kids can reminisce how backwards their school district was in 2014.
yeah because everyone wants to see a bunch of middle age homosexual men and women who still think they look 20 parading in drag, making out down the street every year. but oh you libs call it "culture" but God forbid Christians want to do something in the public arena, you idiots have a cow.

That story does not belong in the yearbook. To begin with, it was about coming out to his parents, something that happens at home, not school. Second, it does not reflect the typical high school experience in that school, which is what yearbooks are supposed to be about. Third, the yearbook is supposed to be about the big news of the year which may have had an impact on their school year, one student coming out to his parents is not the big news of a school year. Fourth, the principal and/or advisor are allowed to prevent controversial subjects, that may impact the school environment, from being published. If this received school related press at all, the students newspaper would be a much more appropriate venue. I would probably be more inclined to side with publishing the story in that case.
They aren't trying to force him back in the closet, they just aren't giving him a stage. Huge difference.
Don't know if someone responded to this, but the article in the OP actually stated that the story centered around the young man initially being afraid to come out but he did anyway and how wonderful and accepting the school and teachers and administrators were.
I do feel that this is a story that should be in the yearbook. It doesn't have to do with "having sex." It has to do with being courageous on the part of the young man - overcoming his fears along with the fact that "community" still exist and there is a soft place to fall for everyone. It is a very nice, endearing story IMO.
And FWIW, upon looking at the title of the thread - I thought the same thing - what is the point of having a coming out story in the yearbook. But after reading about what the young man wrote, it is a story that could serve as an inspiration to others and instill pride in the student body and teachers as it portrays that they are a welcoming community.
Maybe insecure individuals who clearly have no problem violating the greatest commandment from Jesus Himself (love your neighbor as yourself, love your enemies, etc.) should stop bullying them.

"'If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
