Sexual orientation is an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic, and sexual attractions to men, women, or both sexes.
My sexual orientation is homosexual. I am a man. I have only ever been emotionally, romantically, and sexually attracted to other men. I have never been emotionally, romantically, or sexually attracted to a women. I did not choose to be this way. I naturally am this way.

No, you didn't realize you were straight. You realized you were normal.
Normal doesn't mean straight. Your definition of normal is subjective and from my perspective your actions have been abnormal due to your unwillingness to accept that people are different from yourself and your definition of normal.
