It would be interesting to revisit this social experiment in 50 years after California permeates the rest of the U.S., but I doubt we will be here.

So with the noted corrections, I think this is fantastic. I don't see why sex or gendered titles have to be on these things. People can argue about biological parentage, but you can make the same argument about children who are adopted.

Here's a fun one for you folks: I have a trans friend who's female-to-male. All of his documentation represents his true gender (male). But he and his husband just had a baby a while ago. So do we put a male down as the mother or what?

I'm perfectly fine with getting rid of gender in as many places as possible. Down with the binary, etc.

Now will that come back and bite the child later in life ?
Who knows.
You are the one who has it twisted and NoCapo has it right, current forms force one of the gay parents to be listed as mother when they are male or father when they are female, making the forms gender neutral removes that problem and the parents can list them selves as both fathers, both mothers or father and mother. Why must the moral right get their panties in a twist over something so simple.

Anyone can wear a skirt. I want to see them wearing heels.

Maybe an illustration will help show you the merit.

Let's say a married gay couple meets a young pregnant woman in no position to raise a child and who is about to have an abortion. After talking, she agrees to carry the child to term, and the gay couple agrees to adopt the child. When born, the child's two parents - the gay men - can sign the birth certificate, both as fathers.

That happens when you mess with something grown naturally over millenniums: One change requires another one and another one and another one, till the whole thing won't resemble what it started out at.

Gay marriages are like fake designer handbags. Deep down you know. More tinkering doesn't make them real.
