This video is terrifying and spectacular at the same time. Hard to deny that something is going on in the Arctic regions after watching this video.

that's a small chunk of ice

this is the real McCoy...

Something to ponder....

Define what the Tropic of Cancer & the Tropic of Capricorn signifies.
Once answered, then tell us why you feel they are static or dynamic.

"Who'll stop the rain...." Algore and Obama will control nature with the aid of US taxpayer money.
all good questions. according to the "experts" on both sides, the best we can expect is about a one degree of change in one hundred years, and that is only after spending untold trillions of dollars worldwide.

but my questions have always been what happens if:

1: we spend the untold trillions, and ruin several economies around the world, and nothing happens? where do we go to get a refund, and fix the economies?

2: we spend the untold trillions, and it works too well and we start down the path of another glaciation period? one where in one hundred years cities below the latitude of new york city are endangered by huge glaciers?

3: we spend the untold trillions of dollars, and the pace of warming actually accelerates? does the alarmist community claim that it wasnt enough, and that more needs to be done? or do they see the light and say that its in the hands of nature?

Either way, it is the magnetic poles that determine the earths axis to the sun.
As the north pole move farther away from Greenland, I'm sure it will be warmer than just 100 years ago in Greenland.
Both the magnetic poles and the continents are moving. However, the magnetic pole is moving at a much faster rate than the continental plates. The speed of the continental plates varies from zero to 100 mm annually. The movement of the magnetic poles is averaging 55 km annually.

The Earth's axis is also not determined by the magnetic poles, or by the sun. Earth has a 23.5° axial tilt. The true north pole is closest to the sun during the summer in the northern hemisphere, and the true south pole is closest to the sun during the summer in the southern hemisphere. Which is why they get 89 days of daylight during their respective summers, and 89 days of darkness during their respective winters.

The magnetic poles also have nothing to do with surface temperatures anywhere on the planet. Auroras (both northern and southern) are tied to the magnetic poles. When charged particles impact our magnetosphere, they become a plasma centered around the magnetic pole. The stronger the charged particles, the further way they can be seen from the magnetic poles, and the lower they can reach into our atmosphere (they typically range from 40 to 400 miles above the surface of the planet). Which is why really powerful solar flares and CMEs from the sun can be so dangerous to our technologically dependent civilization.

So when even NOOA, NASA and the MET Office all tell you that there has not been any increase in global average temps for going on 18 years now, you conclude there still is global warming, and not only that, but the the end is here and Greenland will fall into the ocean.

When did science stop being a method of learning and understanding the world around us to a means to frighten us and force us to change our way of life?
I'm just saying that a few hundred years ago people would preach to the masses about God's judgment upon them unless they changed their wicked ways.
Now we're told that the earth will wreak devastation upon us unless we change our ways.
Both doomsayers would seek to profit and gain notoriety from their dire warnings and seek followers in their beliefs.
No difference, we've not gone forward, we've gone backward.

I give it another billion years, at best. By then nothing will be evolving. At least not on this planet.

global warming has been talked about at least since the time of plato, but up until recently it was always considered a natural event. the earliest i can think of when climate change being caused by man was thrown into the mix was 1895 when the claim was that if something wasnt done about global warming in the next thirty years, it would be too late, and that it would be the start of a runaway effect.

unfortunately that is when it became political.

Both indicate where the tropics end - at 23.5° north (Tropic of Cancer) and south (Tropic of Capricorn) latitudes. Just as the Arctic and Antarctic Circles are at 66.5° north and south latitudes (90° - 23.5° = 66.5°). As long as Earth continues to rotate 23.5° off from the orbital plane, the Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Arctic Circle, and Antarctic Circle will remain static.
