If you believe a law has been violated and you are the affected party (have standing) you can file a lawsuit as did this group of American Indians. A court will decide the merits of your case and a make a legal decision based on the law.
Is this case even legal? Did a federal judge actually entertain it? I cannot understand why this name is so inflammatory to a handful of Indians. I know progressive liberals fuel the fire but why do the Indians buy into the PC crap so readily? How about the handful of other names like Chiefs, Braves, Indians, Seminoles and others? Aren't they racist? It must surely burn a hole in the belly of progressives to break the back of private industry in such manner. It will be anything in the market next be it entertainment, food industry service, construction, farming, engineering or transportation.
"The name Oklahoma comes from the Choctaw phrase okla humma, literally meaning red people. Choctaw Chief Allen Wright suggested the name in 1866 during treaty negotiations with the federal government regarding the use of Indian Territory, in which he envisioned an all-Indian state controlled by the United States Superintendent of Indian Affairs. Equivalent to the English word Indian, okla humma was a phrase in the Choctaw language used to describe the Native American race as a whole. Oklahoma later became the de facto name for Oklahoma Territory,"
I think it fair to note that that state is also shaped like a gun. The state needs to be redrawn somehow. The safety of our children is at stake - before one dies from this!
Florida, Idaho and all you other states shaped like AK 47's....you're next!
Meh, weird thing to be focused on in my eyes. But, heh if even one person is offended then I think the offending party needs change so that the other person is never offended. Always.
The NFL is about 65% Black. They might need to change the name to the Blackskins.
“The Redskins no longer have trademarks. They are gone,” the Nevada Democrat
said. “Daniel Snyder may be the last person in the world to realize this, but
it’s just a matter of time until he is forced to do the right thing and change
the name
Unlike a lot of social issues prevalent in today's society, where direction in a more progressive direction (legalization of gay marriage, for example), really doesn't have any adverse impacts, changing the Redskin's name will absolutely ruin the franchise.
Many sports teams have changed their names and the franchises did just fine.
Probably the reason why NAACP goes by its initials rather than its name, it is like KFC going by its initials rather than Kentucky Fried Chicken. NAACP has its branding and changing those initials would lose the branding that it has, but still a great question on your part.
Right!
Thta's why the have it spelled out on their seal.

People, mostly lefties, are too stupid to know what the Initials stand for.
Sorry, this one of the lamest excuses you have EVER come up with.
