The problem is that the cost of alternatives will never be substantially less. That's why you see all the regs coming out about carbon etc. etc. The goal is to drive up the cost of coal so that alternatives appear to cost less. They will never stand on their own financial two legs and will absolutely never be able to provide instantaneous load response to meet grid demand...

Not a war on coal? Really people with Obama's words,his actions against coal soon the AEP Big Sandy plant will cease operations and this caused my son to be laid off from the railroad.Tell this to the miners whose mines have closed or are closing in Eastern Kentucky.
Tell this to the Coal truck drivers struggling to survive and provide for their families ...
When you mess with peoples way of life means to earn a living they will rebel and hopefully change the political landscape in Washington D.C. this November!
