I liken this group to members of the WW2 German police units that cold bloodily murdered tens of thousands of people by shooting them. The Eco-faschists are exactly of the same mind set in that they hate humanity and think nothing of killing millions if it goes with their agenda.
I get their mindset, they show their cards in that 10:10 no pressure video.

I don't know why the Antarctica ice thread was closed, but a forumer had stated that our climate scientists predicted/understood why Antarctica was seeing record sea ice extent (basically all part of AGW).

That couldn't be further from the truth. Our brightest climate scientists are really at a loss as to why it's happening

IPCC AR5

Climate models simulate a decrease of Antarctic sea ice in recent decades. Here is what the IPCC has to say, from Chapter 10:

Quote:
Overall we conclude that there is low confidence in the scientific understanding of the observed increase in Antarctic sea ice extent since 1979, due the larger differences between sea-ice simulations from CMIP5 models and to the incomplete and competing scientific explanations for the causes of change and low confidence in estimates of internal variability.

and from Judith Curry

Quote:
So we have several mechanisms that seem to be operating, but we do not yet have a quantitative, predictive understanding of the increase in Antarctic sea ice extent. Hence the statement made by the IPCC seems justified:

“There is low confidence in the scientific understanding of the observed increase in Antarctic sea ice extent since 1979, due to the incomplete and competing scientific explanations for the causes of change and low confidence in estimates of internal variability.”
Why is there so much Antarctic sea ice? | Climate Etc.

It might be due to something simple such as:

Study: West Antarctic Glacier Melt Due To Volcanoes, Not Global Warming
11:46 AM 06/11/2014

Quote:
A new study by researchers at the University of Texas, Austin found that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet is collapsing due to geothermal heat, not man-made global warming.

Researchers from the UTA’s Institute for Geophysics found that the Thwaites Glacier in western Antarctica is being eroded by the ocean as well as geothermal heat from magma and subaerial volcanoes.
I don't think this thread is going in the direction Leisesturm originally thought it would. Sort of like the globull warming thing.

actually i am tired of all commodities being manipulated for monetary gain, or to try and destroy someone, which is why the oil markets were manipulated in 2008. and while that is the downside of the commodities market, the upside is prices are more stable because of the markets, including energy prices.

It is already passed theory. It is observation.

hmm...and how big were those glaciers 500 years ago....1000 years ago.....10,000 years ago

the grand canyon was formed from glacial run off, long island was formed by the edge of the glaciers..the great lakes..etc

posting a thing about 'retreat of glaciers since 1850"...is dishonest

very true since glaciers have been retreating for more than 15,000 years at this point.

Heeeeeyyyyyy.... what have you got against the good old free market? Them bright boys on Wall Street, especially the Goldman Sachs trading desk, stand to enrich themselves on the Cap & Trade Markets. Businesses will do the best they can to stay in business. The liberal left who are the mainstay of the AGW faith will find all the more reason to rail against the rich, but in the end it will have been their idiocy which led to the situation to begin with.

The rest of us? We will all pay higher prices for energy, and everything else for that matter because of pass throughs, more jobs will go to China, and more of us will end up on welfare. But that's ok with the liberal left. They hate working people anyway. working people are harder to control, after all.

And more relevantly, the Little Ice Age ended 150 years ago and the ice created during that event is melting as a result.

The AGW crowd confuses coincidence with causality.

there again, i think you are reading more into my post that what is really there. i love the free markets, as long as they are not being used to manipulate things. the commodities market is great for keeping prices stable over time.
