you obviously do not understand how 3D printing works do you? when you design the barrel, including the rifling, the printer takes all that into account, and as it lays down material, it takes into account the rifling in the bore. what you get is a finished piece.

Why bother with printing a gun? I can buy a new 12 ga. SxS shotgun for under $150 and turn it into a great house defense gun in 5 min with a hacksaw and a file. An older but not antique shotgun would be even cheaper.

Really so it crome lines your barrel, Really? Me thinks not. The machine that does the actual work has limits, just so ya know.
As I asked why the excitement? Why not just buy what you want, or is what you want illegal?

Don't be an idiot. People get excited about technology because it's the snazzy new thing, not because it'll let them do illegal stuff. Your implication is juvenile.

People also like the challenge of building what they could buy. Same as climbing a mountain rather than riding to the top in a ski lift? Why run a marathon when you can drive instead?

Barrels need not be chrome lined incidentally. Many 22lr barrels are not even especially hard steel.

The government and Gun companies won't let allow it to get very far. The government will want control. The ATF will want to keep their jobs, power, and funding. Democrats and antigun groups will use fear mongering to drum up support and outrage from their base. Gun companies, for obvious reasons, will also not support 3D printing.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the government regulates 3D printers. I bet eventually every printer will have to have a serial number, and be registered, and will have to micro stamp everything it prints.

For some it's the challenge to design, create and build. No different than doing a frame off restoration of, say, a rusty, beat up '53 Chevy pickup when they can get a used Chevy truck in great condition for a lot less money and work.

Thanks for the insults, in the future I keep in mind that you not capable of adult level descussions.

We are not talking 22s and you know it, try that will a 5.56 or .308 and see how that works out for ya.
