Walmart has such an awful reputation for how they treat their employees. The store is also very unappealing, aesthetically. Every time I have shopped there, I felt like I did it reluctantly - to save a few bucks. I haven't set foot in a Walmart in a very long time.

The shopping experience at Target is infinitely better, and the prices are around the same. and Target gives you 5% off every purchase with their store card.

I've been in a few Targets and KMarts that look like hell blew through! There's a place here that was once called the Old Towne Mall, which was basically an indoor strip mall, with a Merry Go Round in the center.

and indoor trolleys! It was awesome!

...and then they trashed the mall and made the entire thing an outdoor strip mall.

It has become a ghost town.

Linens and Things was the first to go under, and then KMart, and now the Marshals looks like a giant Goodwill store. Keep in mind this is in a fairly affluent central Torrance area on Hawthorne Blvd.

NY has the same issue. Reason - too many people. Staff can't keep up with keeping the place stocked and clean. I just moved to NC and it's a world of difference. Even the older big box stores here are in better shape b/c at least they're stocked.

There's something to be said for the suburbs, especially those that have avoided urban sprawl, and the filth it brings.

I guess we'll just have to disagree...for every "nice" new Wal-mart you find, I've found two nasty ones .. they just build again never remodeling. Case in point.. where we just came out of.... There stands two old stores (I'm assuming one was a K-mart.. the other very clearly an old Wal-mart). Both vacant, and both rotting away. A new small Super-Walmart built on the other side of town. Not extremely nice nor fancy...already having every aisle jammed with "stuff" and weirdest arrangement I'd ever seen as far as merchandise as well. Oh... and the town... Coffeyville, Kansas... where we stayed at the campground directly across the road from an Amazon fulfillment center.

This does not bode well for either Walmart or the US

Especially with all of the Made in China items that WalMart sells.

Or they will collapse under their own weight.

Wal-Mart sucks but Amazon has been slipping badly in having the best prices lately.

Which is a gimmick to save them money in credit card processing fees and log your purchases to see what you are buying.

not only slipping in prices, their delivery has sucked. Its taking me an average of 10 days to get most orders from Amazon anymore, (I order daily)..

When I join their prime, they usually cancel the membership within 30 days, (after taking my money) because I order too much and they tell me its not meant for people who buy in volume like I do.

I've actually bought more from Walmart this year. I've just done it online. Delivery was amazingly fast.
