It's a rouse to keep minds off the fact our country is falling apart at the hands of the government and their corporate handlers.

It's like having a city on fire, and the people ae outraged at a jaywalker. It's rediculous and simple minded.

Even the head Pinko Socialist of New York celebrates Columbus Day.

I don't believe that is true. I'll have to Google, but I believe he first landed in Venezuela but then traveled north to places like Cuba. Cuba is part of North America.

Your point being what? That because we celebrate some, they all should be? Or that none should be celebrated? Is there varying degree to what one did to be worthy praise? Really, nothing Columbus did was terribly Columbus specific. Another navigator likely would have found the western world within a decade or two.

Since columbus day is a holiday to celebrate "EUROPE" finding America and the expansion of human society. I can assure you we would not all be talking right now if AMERICA was never found and the natives were still running the show.
So what if natives fought other natives? Europeans fought other Europeans. However, there isn't a whole lot of genocide or forced conversion to a given religion on the Native American side of history. There's not an argument that I've ever heard that gave Europe the moral high ground.

While stuipd white children are singing forced KWANZAA songs... Liberals who waste time talking about getting rid of holidays, along with the many other AMERICAN and or christian holidays they wish to remove from history.

Because who ever controls the future controls the past right?
"REPLACE Christmas"

Why emphasize that? Are you implying Christmas is superior and that Christianity is the only important faith?

I also no very little of Kwanza (or KWANZA, as you seem to call it) and can't think of a single time I've been forced to sing Kwanza songs. But ok...

It's a tough pill to swallow, so the only means of defense is to discredit European heritage.

The British at one time occupied colonies in every time zone in the world not filled with water, it was because they were that far advanced. Now, Hong Kong, once British occupied, is crying for the western influence they lost, too bad.
Plenty of places were fairly well developed or advanced (though how one defines this is tricky as it's very vague). There were Empires in South and Central America, as well as in Northern Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia, many of which has similarities to Western Europe, though were all distinctly different. And unless you count heavy need for mass imperialism and massive governments as being 'advanced,' then plenty of places around the world were fairly advanced and there's no reason to suggest they wouldn't continue to develop.

It's easy! They refuse to compare Hitler to modern day totalitarian fascists when the right bring it up, but the comparison is fair game to Columbus?

Priorities are spun, and common sense has been lost.

What Columbus did to the Indians was attrocious true, but the risk he took and wealth he unlocked brought the world out of the dark ages. Other than that, everyone always wants to pick on the Jews and the Italians. The Spanish, and especially the Pizzaro brothers, made Columbus look like a school boy when it came to attrocities.

I'd say that Ebola, the CDC mishandling of it, ISIS, race relations, government corruption, all the other scandals going on... we have far more important things to concentrate on at the moment.

YES, it is! I'm 6th generation American of Italian descent. My GGGrandfather went through hell as an Italian immigrant, and it got even worse during WWI. His business in NYC was burned out by roving mobs. Only the Chinese, Blacks and Irish were treated as bad.

What'll be next? Ban St Pattys day for some trumped up outrage?
Yeah, it's all because he was Italian .

I could care less if we have Columbus Day. I don't celebrate it. As a matter of fact, I think it should be eliminated so that banks will remain open and government employees will have to go to work.

And as far as what Columbus did, he did what people of that time, pretty much regardless of culture, would do. He exploited the resources of a land and a technologically inferior culture.

It should be replaced with Good Friday; a spring holiday that is needed.
