One person's celebration is another's tragedy.

The majority in Ulster celebrate the Battle of the Boyne while the minority sulks or throws bricks.

I doubt too many Israeli-Arabs get excited about Yom Ha'atzmaut, but I also don't doubt the majority loves it.

Columbus came. It happened. Short of inventing a time machine, there is nothing much we can do about it.

Perhaps an honest discussion rather than yet another yearly dose of childish polemics?

You get to join others and celebrate another countries victory and eat Americanized tacos, along with corn syrup margaritas.

At least 'spices' benefited the world!

I don't drink booze and I don't eat at Taco Hell.

Gimme my extra money and you can keep the non-holiday for yourselves.

He was engaged in the slave trade and some of those sold were girls that age, and sold for sexual purposes. Whether or not he actually raped them isn't known.

Italian Americans take great pride in Columbus Day. That would be the equivalent of getting rid of MLK Day in January. You just don't want to p**s off these ethnic groups nowadays.

So did Chief Seattle, he had slaves and also made war on neighboring tribes. So where is the outrage about the name of the city of Seattle? Is that the kind of person "indigenous persons" day is supposed to celebrate?
