Rep. Greg Wren, R-Montgomery, appeared in state district court in Montgomery this morning, where he agreed to plead guilty to using his office for personal gain and to pay $24,000 restitution, within 90 days, in addition to his cooperation with the investigation.
Moore, 47, was arrested for felony perjury and providing false statements. He turned himself in at the Lee County jail today.
Acting Attorney General W. Van Davis made the announcement in a news release.
The indictment is part of the same special grand jury investigation that led to the guilty plea of former Rep. Greg Wren of Montgomery, announced April 1.
If you believe the rumors, half the republican legislature is under investigation as well as the former governor Bob Riley.
Shrug. Seem about right. I figure half of all politicians aren't honest. And really thats on both sides of the aisle. Course I am a optimist in some ways.
These are the people (our political types) that sorely need a course in ethics and a yearly refresher. Some will take it in and then there's that "other" personal characteristic - the "I'm better and/or smarter than everyone else" . That throwing the book at them with fines and/or real jail time (no Club Med) is the only thing one can do.
When its a Democrat, Republicans seem to act like no Republican has ever been brought up on corruption charges.
Nothing has to happen at all for Dems to act as they have done nothing wrong on a daily basis.
