well, Lily just thinks it is a tragedy that this 12 year old has to die. Kids playing fake guns outside all the time, and let's face it, not all 12 year old listen to the authorities.
There should be a better training for police officers. After all, poor neighborhood is not a war zone. Cops are not soldiers.
How is this...maybe the parents should not have let the child pull/break/paint the BRIGHT ORANGE part off the gun that marks that gun as a FAKE....
That could be true...of course kids have never killed...
well, I admit that I cannot tell the differences between a real gun and a fake gun. But should we let this kind of tragedy happen over and over again?
I understand that police officers are doing tough job and I have tremendous respect for them. But seriously, there are a lot of debates, and a lot of arguments, just no solutions.
Do I believe the 12 year old who played fake guns and didn't listen to cops deserve to die? No, I don't. I guess this belief makes me ignorant.
No, you cannot tell the difference...look at what I just posted, and tell me you would be able to tell the difference?
Or better yet...this picture has a real pistol and a fake pistol...please tell me which one is real....one is airsoft and the other is a Glock....
Drama queen...from the person who says "He hasn't master the art of manliness."
Agreed but; those "guns" are sitting side by side are way too close in looks to tell apart in a stress situation. IF a person pulled the "fake" 1 on me and I had mine out, I'd def shoot 1st and ask questions later.

Oh well.
The first thing I was taught about guns was, never point a gun at something (or someone) unless You want to destroy it. But, before that, I was told to respect authority, especially policemen.
Brandishing a weapon (any weapon), aiming a gun at people, and refusing to obey a policeman is a recipe for disaster.
He couldn't tell the differences between a fake gun and a real gun. I admit, I cannot either. But is it a reason enough to kill the 12 year old boy?

your logic seems to be that the cop should just hope for the best. if he makes the wrong choice as to the gun being a toy rather than real, and ends up getting shot as a result, well that's just too bad.
I know that police officers have a very tough job. But seriously, if this officer couldn't figure out the differences between a toy gun and a real one, and he must target a 12 year old boy to feel safer, he was really not qualified for this job.
He hasn't master the art of manliness.
I agree to an extent.
If it were in a dark corner of a building and the kid pulls a toy gun like that, I can understand. In this case specifically, the calls to 911 mentioned it was a toy gun, specifically mentioned it was a toy gun.
Some toy guns look very real, I used to have them when I was a child.
You have to ask yourself, if this were a white child, would the outcome have been different? I have a soon to be 11 year old son, and he is big for his age. As big as some 15/16 year olds. Of course I'm white, but if I were African American, I'd fear for my child if I lived in a low income area.
