Anyone watching the video of those five cops assaulting Garner can clearly see a heinous crime being committed; he was strangled to death as he begged for his life. There's no possible alternative take.

Garner was suspected of selling individual cigarettes, which is widely practiced in NYC due to the crazy taxes on tobacco sales there. It's a very minor white collar misdemeanor. Which should bring up the question of why didn't a cop simply write him a ticket if they were so absolutely obsessed with enforcing tax revenues? Was NYC so blissfully peaceful last summer that five cops had no other priorities than to strong arm this guy?

The fact that this police manslaughter has the tacit approval of our "justice system" should be a stern enlightenment to all Americans.

Well said.

I could understand the grand jury 'no billing' Officer Wilson, but this case is sickening.

By the way, this "decent" guy has a long rap sheet with 31 arrests including assault and driving without a license.
He wasn't at the time of his death. He had no cigarette's on him. There was no complaint filed that he was selling cigarette's. The police were called over a fight. A fight not involving Garner outside of him trying to break it up. The police had no reason at all to arrest him.

Not when you have done nothing wrong. You won't find a single case where someone was convicted of resisting where it was a mistaken arrest. You are advised to not resist but that is so they won't beat the crap out of you. Or worse.

The police DID NOT kill him. He had a seizure and died during the arrest. If he would not have resisted and put up a fight, he would be alive to have his day in court. This was a tragic accident. Nothing more.

Resisting? He was stating his case and was taken down with a choke hold.

The Feds have opened a civil rights case as in my opinion they should.

And the cop "feels bad" and "never intended to harm him".

Guess what officer....you are done.

When a person does something he is not permitted to do (the police officer) and it leads to the death of another, that is not an accident.

It's funny how so many seem to believe their medical expertise trumps the medical examiner.

So he died of natural causes?

He still should have had his day in court but there wasn't enough probable cause according to the grand jury.

Just watched the video for the first time. That was murder. There was no reason to choke him for that long.

Can someone please explain the purpose of a "Grand Jury?" Was the video viewed by the "Jury?" Were the jurors blindfolded? POLICE do not have the right to kill at will. To me, it looks like the officer in this incident, jumped in, not even knowing what was going on.

The right to wear a police officer's badge should be an honor; not some means to give the right to be above the law. Grand Jury's should be abolished. IMHO
