Not trying to start a (perhaps inevitable) flame war, just genuinely curious. It seems the posters and threads here lean moderately to extremely conservative. I've always considered myself a moderate liberal, but after reviewing some threads here, I'm fairly certain I'd be pegged as far-left. I'm in favor of gay marriage, abortion, diversity, marijuana legalization, stem cell research, affirmative action, the recent police accountability movement, Obama, etc. If this makes me far left, so be it, but I would love to engage in intelligent discussions on here without resorting to name calling. Is this even possible in this political climate?

So, are you a liberal? If so, care to espouse some of your positions?

On this forum, there are a few posters you should avoid. Some here do not know how to have a discussion without attacking the poster in question.

And what people here define as far left is laughble, i think it is mostly based on them being in a bubble and believing they are in the "Middle".

Are you also "tolerant" of other people's beliefs?

I don't claim to be tolerant of beliefs I don't respect. I am tolerant of factors outside a person's control.

"Traditional" as int he American liberal or classical liberal? I'm not the latter.

On the former, there are some position I disagree with i.e. I am a lot more hawkish on foreign affairs, but agree largely with the liberal platform enough to be considered a liberal.

define hawkish ?

I ask this because to me, the "doves" are progressive, not liberals. Liberals seem to be a bit more hawkish

Hawkish- to believe that military force, as a deterrent to those willing to harm the nation, is a reasonable strategy.

I believe that the use of military force to topple dictators, fight terroists etc. is a good thing. I do, however, criticize the tactics we used in occupation, torture techniques, and frivolous wars.
