Ih2puo"The sewing companies CEO saves 4.75 per worker and that is big bonus for him and the other execs. Who cares about the lowly floor workers? They aren't important. They should have educated themselves and got skillz like us."
The job of the CEO and management is to maximize shareholder value, i.e. profits. If he fails to save the $4.75 knowing he could save it, he should be fired. he is incompetent.
Circuit city CEO had that mentality too. So he fired all the high cost labor and hired new min wage employees. Big bonus. Shareholders sol.
Circuit City wasn't going to make it no matter what. The reality is it offered nothing special, and that is true of lots of retail. That makes chains like it "low hanging fruit" which , in a short span of time, online shopping will take out.
Reducing costs in such cases will buy these chains time, and perhaps allow them to eek out an existence for more years, employing people during that extended timeframe.
