It's official.... The globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for 2014 was the highest among all years since record keeping began in 1880. The December combined global land and ocean average surface temperature was also the highest on record..... Summary Information | State of the Climate | National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
Climatologist Dr. Judith Curry: 'With 2014 essentially tied with 2005 and 2010 for hottest year, this implies that there has been essentially no trend in warming over the past decade.'
And you are also wrong about the Medieval Warming Period....While true it may have been warmer in some parts of the northern hemisphere, over all the globe was not warmer than it is today.
So what was the average annual temperature in Capetown, South Africa in 1150 CE?

Right, and the higher than average solar radiation was concentrated solely over Minnesota where the Vikings were.
And a tiny bit over Greenland.

And which locations globally kept records?

What about the layers?
Did you forget that space is 3-Dimensional?

You must have fond memories of the last Ice Age.
Average global temperatures in the previous Inter-Glacial Period were 10.4°F warmer than present.
So explain to me why up until the late 1800s the earth had been cooling for 7,000 years...
The last great ice age ended on October 17, 8196 BC. Are you sure you didnt mean that the earth has warmed since that time?
I'm pretty sure you cannot make a case that when an ice age ends the earth cools.
If you meant 700 years, then you are describing the little ice age, which occurred because of a sustained drop in solar radiant output over a few centuries, and ended because of steady increases in radiant output.
It is mere coincidence that the industrial age began at the time that the little ice age ended.
The haven't read about the medieval climate optimum.
