Still ridiculous for a little water poured over some coffee beans. Yes, people pay that here in some places. I make more than $24 an hour and I'm not about to pay $3-4 for a cup of coffee.

I like Tim Horton coffee but when the minimum wage went up in Ohio the first of the year a medium went up to $1.70. I'm done buying it.

I didn't get married until I was 28. My wife and I waited 6 years to have a kid all to acquire enough wealth to support the kid and the family.
Now my mother in-law... She wanted grandkids immediately after we got married!!! She had given up, when we decided to try.

Under a REPUBLICAN president I might add. Republicans USED TO be sane and cared for citizens instead of just a tiny portion of them.It needs to go back to that.

A lot of people got rich off the war.... The rich got richer.

Is that too harsh?
No, it's not too harsh. It's common sense. There was a time when a man didn't take a wife till he was able to support a family, and a woman would not marry a man who had no means to support her.

It's ridiculous that anyone thinks they should be able to raise a family on minimum wage. They should be working toward a better paying job by increasing their knowledge and skills, thereby opening up more opportunities.

Liberals try to make this emotional argument to gain support. Liberals always act on emotion, not rational thinking.

Really honest you see the conditions they treat labor and it reminds you of sweatshops of yesteryear. Then i can't help but think if we didn't have these government oversight or regulations on labor in this country? And im not nieve to think that just because we are americans that it wouldn't happen to us too.

When trade tariffs were dropped completely in 2000, the wealth of this nation left to greener shores.

We need to bring the wealth of this nation, back to this nation, circulating it amongst us as a nation, not spreading and giving, to buy a New World Order.

How were you able to buy a home on minimum wage? How did you qualify for the loan? Oh, wait, Jimmy Carter's CRA, which ultimately caused the predicted mortgage crisis (train wreck) that finally hit in 2008, which Liberals (wrongly) blame on George Bush!

Fact check for you, making $.05 above minimum wage still sucks-and quickly increases that small %.

Sigh. and half are over 25.

Now onto some of the other responses. Sure we could do mandatory birth control, Im sure THAT would go over well in a democracy based on freedom that fought a world war against a country that espoused those ideas. Is it a reasonable thing? In some ways yes, in some ways no. Bottom line though? You are absolutely insane if you think thats a workable idea.

So....reproduction is what we are geared for. Ever see how many people see babies and go ga ga over them? Yeah thats our drive to reproduce messing with us. If you think young people can avoid that you are also absolutely insane if you think thats a workable idea. People ARE going to reproduce, its what our evolution has pushed us to do. As we get older that drive goes down, and we start saying "WTH are you thinking having a child you can't afford?".....apparently forgetting what many of us did or felt when younger.

I raised a family on minimum wage once....it used to be doable. Our country has even more wealth today...and suddenly its not. hmmm.....
"I raised a family on minimum wage once.."

When was that, in that 50's?

It is disappointing that people like you live in America, yes. It would be much nicer if people who want a social democracy lived in a social democracy instead of trying to change America into one.

There is a reason why Australia is an attractive counrry for travelers that need to work for a year saving up money to continue traveling. That is because housing and food isn't that expensive and the pay scale is very good.

Great way to build revenue for the State.

You also pay 70% of your income to the Government in taxes and fees.

Last time I made minimum wage($2.85), I was 16.
Hell, my first job(self employed) mowing grass, paid more than minimum wage, even after taking out the fuel overhead.
I use to get $10-$20 a yard in the 70's when minimum wage was $2.85 or less.
