Devaluing the currency, welfare, warfare and imperialism.Everything we have going on today.
I agree with these, plus I'd add that we've become domesticated and less entrepreneurial. We used to be more self-sufficient and have become more dependent. Most people look to others for something instead of creating it themselves. It's hard for the economy to grow when people are waiting for someone else to create the jobs and hire them, for example.

That's far-fetched. Virtually the entire city of Chicago was built by people looking for work, and the economy grew exponentially. Indeed, if each of us were an entrepreneur, the economy would halt.
The way I see it, a nation can only exist if ALL of its people are loyal to it, no matter what their race/ethnicity is. The USA will remain so long as ALL of its people understand that we are Americans, and should treat each other as such.

One of the few reasonable posts here. When we treat each other as Americans, thats where our strength comes from. Countries fall when internal divisions destroy them. When theres a rich class, and a poor class, when we define peoples worth as citizens based upon what we define as their "value".

True, but I think it would help if more people had the mindset to do something themselves. Not everyone, but some. Invent something we can export...make something valuable instead of only consuming what other people are making.
It takes a lot of work to do...more than most people want to put in. I think that's partially because we were spoiled being born into a country that was already successful. It's like the father who built the business having a good work ethic and his son inheriting the business, but he didn't go through what his father did and therefore lacks the same drive and wisdom. The generation or two after the rags-to-riches success story are usually not as driven because their lives have been much easier.
I'm not sure how much of an impact that has on the U.S., but I think it's a factor.
It's believed that one of the reasons that starts the falling of a great nation, including Rome, Great Britain, etc. started when the nation's population put a lot of value, time, and attention to sports and entertainment.
Is the United States heading that same path. What are your thoughts?
I believe they failed when they became a plutocracy.

Unfortunately, far too many people in this country put their loyalty towards their race or ethnic group first.
