ISIS, terrorism... all of them have nothing to do with religion. It's about money, power, control and the best way to do that is to use religion. Look at all the people here saying the Bible really isn't violent. For some reason, I'm doubting most of these people have actually read the bible. Instead they've listened to select passages used by a church to push a point. Exactly as these organizations use religion, specifically picking out the parts that further their goals and ignoring the rest of the book.
Crusades are a prime example of Christian use of it. Crusades had nothing to do with taking back the holy land and everything to do with money, power, control. Is it out dated? Sure. Is it reason enough for people to get so bent out of shape? It only illustrates their misunderstanding.

If it were a merely one time analogous point, I'd ignore it.
It is his constant refusal to name the terrorists as Islamic. If you haven't seen the many many times he's used a euphemism instead of Islam, you need to watch more than MSNBC.
In fact I can't remember him ever saying the words Islamic terrorism, or even alluding to Muslims being involved in any "workplace violence." It's always euphemisms like a death cult, a few misguided radicals, etc etc.

Confirmation bias isn't a good thing. I know it can be hard to learn that Obama isn't who you thought he was, who you'd hoped he'd be, but that's the way of it.
Obama is just fine with me. I'm not complaining.

I get it. Obama wasn't saying that Jesus Christ promoted these actions, but that doesn't stop some Christians from claiming that Jesus Christ would approve of their inhuman acts. Those Christians took on the mantle of their religion, just as ISIL does. In my opinion, both are mistaken.
No, you don't get it.
Obama couldn't bring himself to say ISIL and Allah or Muhammad or Islam in the same sentence. For ISIL, barbarism 'in the name of religion' is close enough.
Meanwhile, for Christians, the Crusades to Jim Crow are 'in the name of Christ.'
The truth is that inquisition actually is a good example where religion was used as a tool to commit evil acts. Whoever defends such acts are not defending Christianity, but evil.
The sad thing is that going back to the Crusades was totally unnecessary.
Christian tomfoolery has a far more recent past to draw from.
The thing is, Christians as a people and as a religion have evolved and transformed. There was no longer an accepted place in Christianity for racism, bigotry, slavery, etc.. Meanwhile Islam retains all of these things, with people still stoned to death for being gays, apostates, adulterers, etc...
Christianity has most definitely evolved past the crusades, while Islamic states in the 21st century still conduct holy wars and want to conquer the world in the name of Allah and Islam.
