63% of Hispanic voters support same-sex marriage. [Sournce: February 27-March 4, 2013: Quinnipiac Polling Institute poll.]
59% of "non-white" respondents support the freedom to marry, with 39% opposed. [Source: June 6, 2012: CNN/ORC International Poll.]
59% of black Americans support the freedom to marry. [Source: May 22, 2012: The Washington Post/ABC Poll.]
The problem is that you're confusing how black and Latino people choose to live, and whether they think their choices should be imposed on other people.
The polls are BS especially the black numbers. That poll was taken after Obama came out for gay marriage. The black numbers jumped 20 points as a result. Unfortunately for many Blacks, Obama has taken the place of Jesus or God.
I suspect the numbers will recede once he leaves office.
You only think you drag the south, but they aren't moving anywhere. It's only an optical illusion.
I live in the north and would let them be what they want.
If you don't like how they are, just move to another state. It's simple as that.
Because, in their opinion, that's not what marriage is. They would say you have the same right to marriage as anyone else, you just don't like what marraige is as defined and want to change the institution.
They would be wrong, just like the argument that interracial marriage bans were equal because no one could marry outside of their race was wrong.

I suspect you are headed for a crushing disappointment.
In my travels I can tell you for a fact that if you get 50 miles outside any major city America is pretty much the same. Spent last summer in New England just off the Appalachian Trail, and I can tell you the only thing different is the accents.

When it comes to the basic civil rights of an american citizen, the same laws apply no matter which state. Simple as that.
Am I forcing you to marry someone of the same sex?
Am I forcing you to like homosexuals?
Am I forcing you to attend a same sex wedding?
Am I banning you from marrying someone of the opposite sex?
Nope.
How am I forcing my morals on you?
Yeah, nobody responded to this one! Because it's the truth.
They think that by getting government out of people's personal lives, and allowing them to choose as they wish, that "the Libs" are forcing morals on them. Then when they see it in black and white, it's obvious that they have exactly what their platform is all about, and they STILL don't like it.
Preventing people from living their life is forcing morals on them. Allowing them to live their life is not. Hence the crickets.
I think that it's troubling that often the people who are most outspokenly against bigotry engage in regional bigotry, as if the South was made up of all people who think and behave alike. When it's blatantly obvious that the South, like every other region of the country, is a hodgepodge of different beliefs and values. As it should be in a country which values freedom of belief and thought, and prizes individuality.
