With the drive towards an attitude of multiculturalism it's
becoming a salad bowl.
The different European cultures (and they were very different) that arrived in the 19th / early 20th century were successful in assimilating within one generation making the US a true melting pot of cultures (to our betterment IMO).
I used to work with an older woman (Irish) who was
forbidden to date Italians. That cracked me up.
