Of course the left had to pull out all the stops, they couldn't do it on Obama's record and as they knew the useful idiots would jump on board. Romney's taxes, binders full of women, wow it was pretty easy.

Did Reid lie? Can anyone prove it?
So rather than call out the liar, you say the person being slandered should have to prove they don't beat their wife still?

One would think if someone was lying about you and you could prove it was a lie, you would do so.

But if it wasn't a lie...well, then, you would bluster and bloviate and act all offended, but refuse to put up or shut up.
So why didn't John Kerry release his military record in 2004?

Kerry signed the Standard Form 180 on May 20, 2005 which provided the full release of his military records, including his medical records.
Kerry allows Navy release of military, medical records - The Boston Globe

Somebody is digging a deeper hole. Its not me.
And what did Kerry say in 2005 when asked why he didn't just release the records in 2004?

Quote:
Asked why he delayed signing the form for so long, Kerry said in a written response: ''The call for me to sign a 180 form came from the same partisan operatives who were lying about my record on a daily basis on the Web and in the right-wing media. Even though the media was discrediting them, they continued to lie. I felt strongly that we shouldn't kowtow to them and their attempts to drag their lies out."

Reid was protected from libel, you are not.

Right. Hillary "earned it on her own".

Bill Clinton was elected as Attorney General of AR in November 1976, little more than a month after his inauguration in 1977 his wife is hired by the most prestigious law firm in AR. In January 1979 Bill is inaugurated as Governor, Mrs. Governor makes partner in that top law firm (really? associate to partner in a top firm in two years?); then Mrs. Governor is put on the Board of Directors at Walmart and TCBY; and let us not forget the Immaculate Cattle Future Options.

A few days after the HuffPo interview, Reid made the same charge on the Senate floor, this time claiming as fact that Romney paid no taxes." When Harry Reid knew it was a lie.

What should be the consequences, if any, for this lie?
Obama won

There is proof as to whether or not Harry lied. The IRS has it, but it is illegal for them to release it. Mitt has it, but he apparently does not want to "prove" Harry was lying.

Burden of Proof

(Dingy Harry's "proof" must have been on one of those "crashed" hard drives)

Why should anyone have prove what anyone else says?

If reid knew he was protected....why did he not come out and say it on any show...even msnbc?

Why, cause it was a lie....that's why...

He cannot.

It was all said where you can lie through your teeth and even threaten lives, even if that threat is against the President, on the Senate floor. The senate floor and the house floor are protected Liar areas. You can even scream FIRE and not face prosecution.

This is where politicians get their power. They know how to manipulate the people and the people like useful idiots fall right in line doing exactly what the politicians want. Come on people can't you be smarter than to be so easily manipulated to do the politicians bidding.

It's true, Romney was under no obligation to prove Reid was lying. But his unwillingness to do so gave credence to Reid's allegation and made it obvious he was trying to hide something. Reid played him masterfully.
