I was a retail manager for many years, and in the great majority of cases, vendors have NOTHING to do with stocking. The merchandise comes to the store, it is checked for accuracy by store workers, and store workers stock the shelves. Yes, we have all seen outside vendors stocking the bread shelves and setting up large promotion displays (such as sodas), but have you never been to a 24-hour Wal-Mart (or any big store that is open long hours) after 10 p.m. or before 7:00 a.m.? How many people wearing vendor or distribution company logos or name tags do you see stocking shelves, and how many store workers do you see doing that job? Yes, to repeat, in SOME cases vendors will stock the shelves, but in most cases, that is not true.
So, has anyone seen any workers at any of the closed Wal-Mart to deal with the merchandise yet? Or any big trucks waiting to take stock away? Or anything to indicate that at least
some kind of construction is about to take place?
And, yes, to say it
again, I do realize that it is up to Wal-Mart to decide its own timeline for doing things!
