Do you really think the GOP would have allowed taxes to be raised dramatically to pay for improvements in the US infrastructure as the OP suggested? Hell no! Don't be obtuse. The only gov't spending the current GOP has any interest in is defense.

Someday some Republican politician's wife or kid will get killed on a collapsed bridge and maybe then the GOP will wake up and remember what it takes to maintain a country.

It has, but there's an election brewing and the left needs to frame it anyway they can. Blaming the GOP for the crash is a cheap and sloppy way to try to push the Democrat's meme that Republicans are cruel, heartless, blah blah blah.

They also use it to cover the failure of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a classic Democratic boondoggle.

Sorry but Pubs love to create jobs which benefits the lower and middle class worker. It's the Crats who blow Trillions on useless Govt programs that benefit very few.

You carry on.

The US Treasury / IRS has collected record amounts of Income so far in 2015. It's not raising taxes that the problem, it's the reckless spending by both parties.

Taxing and Income is not the problem. Democrats are certainly not exempt from the Trillions wasted yearly.

OP's argument to blame Republicans is a pure Half Truth.

Maybe even more NYC-income tax money will help Democrat projects:

Prove it.

That must explain their filibuster of infrastructure spending and jobs programs.

Off the rails: US railway crisis blamed on lack of funding, crumbling infrastructure ? RT USA

The latest Amtrak train crash has left at least five people killed and dozens injured, with the cause of the crash remaining unknown.

It came on the eve of the railway budget bill that could see the funding for Amtrak slashed by 20 percent, from $1.4 to 1.13 billion.

In comparison, China’s railway budget for the next fiscal year is an estimated $128 billion, the Atlantic news portal reported.

At ease...

Like all leftist Repubs./Rockefeller Repubs. (aka neocons) the Bushes are big taxing, "voodoo economics"-deriding (and if you agree w/ the sentiment you'll only prove the point), population reduction advocates--like their aggressive, militant, fist-raising, urban camo attire wearing, Libya- and Syria-bellicose progressive leftist brethren and sistren who love Big Goverment police- and surveillance-state that keeps tabs on compliance with leftist social engineering endeavors and who don't care at all about federalization and TSA in their NYC subway system.
