If FIFA is doing this, what has the IOC been doing? Someone needs to crawl into their underwear. I bet there's lots of cash stuffed in there.

But the US has taken on the job of tackling corruption in the field of soccer.
Many are asking why the US because there are a host of other countries much more deeply involved with FIFA than the US.

The US did lose out to Qatar. Maybe this will turn things around the the US will be the host country.

There have been conviction of the IOC back when we got the winter Olympics for Salt Lake City. No oversight begs for abuse.

On the one hand you say " Of course it's fixed, it's world cup soccer." But at the same time you also say" Who cares, its world cup soccer."

It is a hopeless case. It is like with all such organizations, especially when a lot of money is involved. Formula One is the same mess.

The same goes on in the UN, where poor countries' votes are bought by rich ones.

I don't care who does something about it, as long as someone does. Sure, soccer is not exactly a US sport, but then again, FIFA is an international organization and the US is a member like all the others. It is not that there is no soccer in the US...
Europe in particular had more than enough time to do investigate FIFA, but it seems Europe never really cared. And from Latin America, Russia and Asia one can't expect such an investigation, those regions are drowning in corruption.

In terms of future soccer events I guess the US might have less of a chance now to host such events because some might not be happy about those investigations. Depends on how deep corruption and connections run...

Then again, such events are a big waste of money, anyway. As if modern cities didn't have more urgent things to spend millions or even billions of euros/dollars on. Qatar might be rich enough, but then again, Arabia is not exactly associated with soccer, it will be an odd event, like a skiing event in Venezuela

Not really. FIFA actually deserved this one.

Thousands of workers have died in Qatar building for 2022.
They were lied to and are indentured servants.

And I care why?

And why are our tax dollars being waster on this? Who cares if soccer is rigged. It's a stupid game, almost as stupid as football.

Witness Protection program... Pleeeze lemme in!
