Christian Stewardship of God's Creation is a mandate of the Church.

We are stewards of creation. I applaud Pope Francis for making this a prerogative
and writing an upcoming encyclical about it.

The Roman Catholic Church has a history of being concerned about the environment.

those who do not care about the environment are a scourge, a plague on nature.

I care more about nature's precious ecology than I care about scumbag corporate profits.

That doesn't make me a "liberal". It makes be a conscious human being.

"Real scientists" do base their conclusions on "consensus." Consensus is not science.

I don't know if the pope is a chemist or not (where did you get that from?), but chemistry is not climate science, and the climate "science" that is the basis for the "global warming" hoax is nothing more than computer models that have been invalidated. Garbage in = garbage out. It's been proven to be a fraud from the email scandal of a few years ago, and the phony "peer review" of their work.

Ever heard of "archeology?" It has proven much of the Bible to be historically accurate. So, the problem with what you call "real scientists," is that by discrediting the Bible record, all of their conclusions about origins, and even climate science start with a wrong premise. Their conclusions, therefore, cannot be trusted.

As a recovering Catholic, I find Pope Francis is a real breath of 21st century air in a religion--Christianity--that has been firmly mired in the Dark Ages.
Roman Catholicism is NOT Christianity! It is Catholicism. Period. And Christianity is NOT "mired in the Dark Ages." It is a myth that in the 21st Century man is more "civilized" and has "progressed" in some way. We have not progressed at all, but are becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah, uncivilized, rife with debauchery and every kind of evil.

Many Chrstians believe we are in the end-times, and therefore it doesn't matter what happens to the Earth. They also believe they will be raptured before things get too bad, and we heathens who are left behind deserve for things to be horrific on the planet as punishment for our lack of faith.

Then there are those who blindly believe that corporate profits must be protected at all costs, because that's what their corporate bought and paid for politicians tell them.

I do find it funny that people that defend the Church or now criticizing the Pope and some strong leftists haters of the Church are now 'believers' in the Pope.

Does anyone know what the obligations of Catholics are to follow this mandate...I mean people that actually understand the Church and its mandates, not some drive by comments motivated by political expediency

If he was a steward of creation, he'd ask the EPA why it doesn't pay any attention to actual pollutants like GMO; endocrine disruptors; barium and aluminum salts used in geoengineering; as well as from "the use of Ba as an atmospheric aerosol spray for enhancing/refracting the signalling of radio/radar waves along military jet flight paths, missile test ranges, etc."; 112 db car horns used on auto alarms and remotes; light pollution,....

...instead of amplifying international banking priorities with interests in climate-derivatives trading.

But that's historically what the Vatican does.

I was born and raised in the Catholic faith, and they do, indeed, consider themselves to be Christians. You deciding otherwise has no bearing on that.

Well, he's been indoctrinated in, and teaching, myths and fairy tales all his life. Why would you expect anything different with regard to AGW? It is right up there with a floating sky daddy in terms of plausibility.
