What a bizarre comparison. She's perfectly free to stand on the courthouse steps and protest the ruling. But when she's on the clock, she's not free to make up her own rules. The public pays her salary, the public has every right to expect her to work by the rules. Vegans can't hold up business licenses for burger joints either, no matter how heartfelt their feelings.

The legal concept is known as "Too bad, so sad, now make with the paperwork."

Neither does yours. Mine is not an opinion. Words mean things. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Here is the test. What is your definition of what the Confederate Battle Flag means? Is it static, or can it mean whatever anyone thinks it means? Furthermore, no matter what someone defines as its meaning, can it be flown without reprisal? Think about it, because you cannot say that the Confederate battle flag means one thing , but marriage can mean more than one thing, without opening yourself to charges of being a hypocrite.

What does butt sex have to do with marriage? Actually a Civil Marriage say nothing about sex, so Harrier doesn't have to worry about having to have sex with his cat when he marries her.

It's almost as if constitutions outlay the principles and actual laws deal with the details, isn't it? Quite clever, actually.

What's does being a sodomite include? If I give oral sex to a woman, does that make me a sodomite, who doesn't deserve to get married?

Legally, that turns out not to be the case.

The only problem with this is that there has been no federal law passed. All of you sodomite supporters were shouting over the weekend and most of this week that the 5 lawless justices named Tony, Stephen, Sonia, Ruth, and Elena were not making law. Now that a brave country clerk has defied their unconstitutional decision, you claim that their is a federal law. Well for heavens sake, make up your mind.

Quit playing stupid to try and prove a fragmented political point. Either argue that the 14th amendment covers marriage or don't, but don't give us the nonsensical crap about 'well, it docent' say marriage.' The constitution doesn't say 'gun' either, but I'd guess you're opposed to gun control as well? After all, it doesn't specifically say that. It says right to bear arms? Maybe they meant limbs!?
Well in order to have equal protection under the law, one has to be recognised as a protected class. For example, woman and married couples are a protected class. Uncustodial fathers, dog lovers are not.
