Education professors Patricia Gandara of UCLA and Frances Contreras of University of Washington wrote the 2009 book "The Latino Education Crisis: The Consequences of Failed Social Policies." Heather Mac Donald, a contributing editor of City Journal, reviewed the book.
She wrote: "Hispanics are underachieving academically at an alarming rate, the authors report. Though second- and third-generation Hispanics make some progress over their first-generation parents, that progress starts from an extremely low base and stalls out at high school completion.
Damn: that's rough. Tho Hispanic culture ain't 1 of the betters ones looking at any LatAm country. I said "culture" since Argentina is the "whitest" country in the Americas.
They've revitalized lots of neighborhoods in California, not to mention that they provide tons of much needed labor in the rural AND urban areas that others seem to be above doing.
Moreover, these are our fellow Americans. Why in the hell would you talk about them as if they're invisible or can't understand what you're saying about them? Yeah, many struggle and don't get good educations, but they're out here working their asses off despite their problems.
California Latinos are not sinking the state. That's b.s.
Is not racist to point out the problems of our American brethren,is not racist to look at our fellow American struggles, is only racist when you equate said problem to the shade of their skin, is racist when you think the problems they suffer is because of the amount of melanin in their skin, is racist to look at them and brush away their problems because of how they look on the outside.
Don't worry, we have given them drivers licenses, registered them to vote and will soon be getting them on obamacare.
This are fellow Americans-being legal immigrants or born citizens- they are just as American as you, they deserve the same rights granted by our constitution. Stop living in a hate filled bubble, toward people tha may look different from you. Their struggle is the same struggle many europeans faced when they arrived to the sates, or have you forgotten that;simply because of their shade of skin.
C'mon man, what's wrong with you? "Changing demographics" are a wonderful thing for this country. Of course I would never live in a"changing demographics" neighborhood, but that don't mean nothin'.
Hispanics are not getting the education they need.. the drop out rate is 50%.. the culture accepts having children out o wedlock and many anchor babies are being born with illegals mothers.
The takers are draining the system as more and more illegals come here for free food stamps, housing, and medical care.. that is why our premiums go up to cover all the free care the hospitals have to give to anyone walking through the door. The numbers will grow when those here tell of all the free services they get here and how well they live here. Nothing is being done to stop it.
Our country is no longer rich.. we are in very deep debt with 18 trillion dollars of borrowed money our government has already spent for services ... we can no longer afford to cover two countries plus more hispanics from other countries who are here too. No one does a thing to correct this..
Gov. Christie said he spends 18K a year on each illegal here in NJ and we have to invest more to sent them to college yet tells us we have to add two years to collect Social Security of which Americans have paid in to collect. Christie says he is a real conservative.. HA! No one is looking out for Americans other than Donald Trump and the far right candidates who see the Americans are getting the shaft from the ruling class.
The Hispanic dropout rate is a problem. It's also an Anglo problem, and a problem in our black population as well.
And it's not just California's problem. Dropout rates have risen in all 50 states.
We can fix it, but it will take a national commitment, and the commitment has to be strong in all our different cultures and races.
We cannot leave it up to the kids, because they are kids. Once they drop out, they instantly think that there is no use in going back because they will never be able to catch up, even if they want to go back. That's how kids think. They have to know they can come back, and only by coming back can they succeed. We have to make it easier for them. Our entire educational system now depends on a child's individual courage and determination to come back to school now.
And it's far easier for them to start making more drastic life mistakes really fast once they drop out of school. We don't hang on to them tightly enough these days. We let them go all too easily.

Agreed.
Funnily enough, the Irish and Italians were both discriminated against in the US when they first made a real presence here. Now, when one thinks of a "typical 'murrican", they likely imagine someone with an extraction mix of Irish/German/Italian.
One day, Mexican or Guatemalan will be in that visualized mix as well. Hope that doesn't upset any
resident moonlighting Stormfronters too much.
And by the way, even if they are not US citizens, they are still Americans. What continent do they come from?? Exactly.
