Well, there are a lot of debate and many of these are just "opinions"
I agree with the poster who said he was a Nazi because Nazi was truly a very unique term.
Hitler had appeared at a time of national crisis to haul a demoralized Germany off its knees following the inglorious defeat of the First World war and restore its national pride. He brought it through a decade of political instability and ruinous inflation by ruthlessly eliminating the opposition and borrowing far beyond his country's means.
Hitler has been called a shrewd political strategist, but in truth he simply did as he wished and damned the consequences.
I am not trying to defend Hitler in any way, but let's face it, it was not only the fascist leaderships in Spain and Italy who openly admired Germany's ability to get its own house in order, but many European aristocrats who shared Hitler's suspicion of the Jews whom they regarded as having far too much control of the financial infrastructure.
The full name of the Nazi party is The National Socialist Workers Party.... I think this one speaks for itself.
The full name of North Korea is Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and yet it's not governed by a democratically elected legal body, operating within constitutional limits. Manic dictators tend to not label themselves with 100% honesty.
Snark aside, the Nazis had a sizable socialist fraction as they gained power, but once Hitler was on top of the pile, the socialists were surplus to requirements. The Strasser/Röhm faction was purged in 1934, and with a hundred or so of the leading socialist elements dead, nobody really wanted to bring the subject up again. It is worth mentioning that German industrialists kept possession of their factories - actually, they were much given to competitive backstabbing which contributed to the lack of efficiency in the German wartime economy. A dozen or so of the factory owners even got Nuremberg tickets after the war.

Ultimately, it's difficult to fit Hitler in neatly with American politics...
Not that I don't think a site called 'Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership' isn't coming to this with a completely objective mind, but I question the validity of this assessment.
But that's not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about the implication this has.
What was it that made Hitler infamous? Because I don't believe it was his gun control. To share Hitler's gun control does not make you a Nazi any more than support a powerful and industrial military makes you a Nazi.
Except Hitler was not a socialist and hated socialists.
He was a National Socialist.
His economic program was allowing limited number of privately-owned but heavily regulated companies controlling all major industries. This model lets the government fully control the economy, but blame the business owners for its failures like unemployment and low wages. This is the exact economic structure of all modern European social democracies. It is also were Obama and the left are taking America.
And Pol Pot hated Vietnam; and the USSR hated China; later, MPLA hated UNITA. And Shining Path hated MRTA; and Deng Xiaoping hated Jiang Qing.... Nobody's ever a true socialist, are they.
"First, the Nazi regime reenacted in 1938 strict gun control
laws and regulations that required licensing and reporting for the acquisition, transfer, or
carrying of handguns, and for dealing and manufacturing in firearms and ammunition.78
In this respect, the Nazis had in place stringent gun regulation, including strict reporting
requirements. Second, the Nazi gun laws of 1938 specifically banned Jewish persons
from obtaining a license to manufacture firearms or ammunition.
...
Four,
approximately eight months after enacting the 1938 Nazi gun laws, Hitler imposed
regulations prohibiting Jewish persons from possessing any dangerous weapons,...."

"Anyone who has studied Hitler’s rise to power knows he was no socialist. He was an opportunist, even a political schizophrenic. Which served him well, because in a Weimar Republic struggling – and failing catastrophically – to come to terms with military humiliation, a crisis of national identity and an economic implosion, ideology was a moveable feast. Indeed, it was so moveable, it opened the door to Hitler’s rise to power. “Who cares what he thinks?” Germany said to herself. “He’ll do for now.”
Pin the ideology on the Führer is a fun game. Actually, it’s quite a tasteless game. But we can all play it. “The government will not protect the economic interests of the German people by the circuitous method of an economic bureaucracy to be organised by the state, but by the utmost furtherance of private initiative and by the recognition of the rights of property,” Hitler told the Reichstag in 1933. Not exactly the words of a man about to break into a rendition of “The Red Flag”.
But does it matter? Yes, it does, actually. Hitler wasn’t a socialist, nor was he a conservative. He was a political mutation. And to try to place him anywhere on the conventional political spectrum is not just to abuse history but to play a dangerous game with the future.

Based on your foolish logic, you have now equated Australia, Canada, the UK and a host of other countries with Hitler. It's only the United States, specifically the GOP, that fetishizes guns.
