Most Euro Countries have a plus 60% tax margin Euro companies have to be supported by the Gov. We in America have choices that are looked down at in Europe, thus is the reason why there is a difference. I would not live in Europe again , much less than go on vacation. Even if it was offered free and all expenses paid for.

America is Special and I have been all over the country! If you can see that you better pack your bags and move to Belgium. Then you will get a very good taste of a Socialist Society.

So people keep saying. And yet, I still have to hear a concrete example. So again: Which rights are "taken away" from a random Norwegian? What exactly is it that is so "controlled"?

Good question... Why won't liberals agree to taxes like that here in the U.S.? They insist on placing the tax burden on higher-income earners, whereas in European countries the highest tax burden is on lower- and middle-income earners.

Most aspects of daily life and again would not leave the shores of the US.(Been there do it) But that is my opinion and those who love Europe is free to go back home to 5.00$ for a liter of fuel and Gov. owned homes.

I can start a business here in the USA with Gov. Interference

Government owned homes. Now, that's a new one if I've ever heard of it. Your remark would have been correct......for the eastern half of Europe pre-1991. For someone who has lived "in Europe", you don't come across as knowing much. Living in a US military base doesn't really count by the way

Most right-wingers don't know which rights Americans have that Europeans no longer have. About the only one is loose gun laws, but having a very restrictive gun political environment has not led to totalitarian states like many gun nuts believe.

I find their posts fascinating, the desperation they have to think they are the best, the US is the best, etc. is bizarre. They seem to think humility is the worst thing in the world.

Perhaps because the US does not have strong unions which fight for the rights and benefits of the people, unlike European countries where CEOs are not paid 500 times more than the average worker, so it is unfair to ask the people who are already suffering under extreme income inequality to also pay a higher tax burden.

In Europe, the taxes benefit the people, not endless wars, Wall Street deregulation/bailouts and a prison-industrial complex.

Liberals still aren't going to get the social program benefits they want until the U.S. starts loading the lower- and middle-income earners with the greatest burden of taxes like European countries do.

For example...

"...the poorest 20% of households in the UK have both the highest overall tax burden of any quintile and the highest VAT burden."

Not true. A universal health care system which is supported by the majority of the people costs less, not more than the current, massively corrupt and inefficient privatized system.

The average UK person pays $3700 per year in taxes to fund their medicare for all, universal health care system. The average US person already pays $4300 in taxes to fund 44% of the US health care costs. In addition, people have to pay thousands of dollars a year in insurance, deductibles, prescription drugs, co-pays etc.

Or take the massively bloated war and military-industrial complex. Slashing the spending by 25-30% will give every American family universal child care free of charge.
