Feds raid Chinese 'birth tourism' rings in California

Quote:
Federal agents Tuesday broke up alleged "birth tourism" rings in Southern California, raiding several homes and apartment complexes where pregnant Chinese women on fraudulent visas paid up to $80,000 so their babies would be born U.S. citizens.

No one was arrested, but Homeland Security and Internal Revenue Service investigators were seeking evidence and statements against those involved in the scheme, the Los Angeles Times reported. Besides visa fraud, authorities are looking into possible tax and money-laundering charges.
And you know....

With the Asian babies? A lot of benefits to the USA. As I mentioned, they will be highly educated, tax paying members of society who are not likely to be criminals. They will be buying cars, houses, vacations, etc. pumping money into the economy.

I don't care if an anchor baby is rich or poor. Everyone should follow the laws of the land and your example is picking favorites. You are either for or against anchor babies.

I doubt his wife screams at him. Jeb appears to be a happily married family man. The problem is that the interests of his family don't line up with the interests of most Americans. The Bushes are dynastic and Jeb wants to help create an America that will vote his Latino children, grandchildren and great grandchildren into high office. He wants an America that is part of Latin America, prizes bilingual Spanish/English ability and is comfortable with Latin American extremes of wealth and poverty.

If only American immigration policy was about picking favorites by some reasonable criteria. That would be a big improvement.

Not all anchor babies parents are rich or even upper middle class, I doubt all of them are willing to spend that kind of money on their kids.

plus, in the future, these parents (senior citizens) might take advantage of the medicare system, welfare system, etc.

My generation cannot afford it. Period.

These people committed fraud and should be punished, not rewarded.

This issue needs to be addressed. No politicians should be playing favoritism. End it all now.

It was especially stupid of Jeb because here in CA, the Democrats very much decry Asian anchor babies because since they are growing up prosperous and likely live in the Bay Area, they are starting to make some CA assembly and congressional districts a little but more purple that is comfortable.

You have no idea.

If you use anchor baby term, use it for all.

although it is very OBVIOUS that Jeb Bush throws Asian-Americans under the bus. Asians votes are irrelevant, I am sure if he needs 47% Chinese or Asian votes in order to win, he'd never use that term for Asians.
He basically just torpedoed any substantial Asian support for the GOP in the next election.
