I wasn't referring to you. In the thread regarding one of the recently slain cops, there were posters who seem to think that some of us should show respect to the families of these police officers instead of pointing out that perhaps karma has to do with the recent cop slayings. Anyone who has posted such nonsense while not extending the same courtesy is nothing but a whiny hypocrite.

Well, there exists two different videos, so hopefully there is enough evidence in totality to eventually show what happened. One thing I appreciate is that the DA and the officials seem to be trying not to jump to conclusions. The county is increasing an order they already had placed for the purpose of having their own cameras, in addition to any possible 3rd party cell phone videos.

“This is a very unique situation where we actually have the shooting on video,” he said, according to the station. “That gives us a whole different perspective that we’ve never had before.” "

Thank God for citizen videos. Without the video, the case would have zero chance of being heard.

Nobody needs to be an expert to figure out what happened, this was murder, execution style. It's very clear in the video.

Sorry police brutality apologists. You are not fooling anyone with "expertise advice" consider taking a break from those silly detective and crime scene shows and use your common sense. The execution is on video.

Do cops even follow standard procedure to use physical force to subdue and arrest the person? He has no weapon visibly that requires the police to point firearms at him. That right there is automatically subject to discipline for failure to follow standard procedure before drawing your firearm.

Obviously the victim said something or did something that made the cops job harder but not enough to require pointing firearms at him.

If you see seconds before he was shot, the victim looks like he was ready to be taken in and they just blow him away.

This is murder.

What do the two highlighted items have to do with anything. A criminal record doesn't give cops the right to execute someone, nor does a spotless disciplinary record.

Can you at least admit this doesn't look good for the police?

One thing that never ceases to amaze me about these discussions is how when presented with a video of someone being gunned down who either posed no threat to police, or could have easily been overpowered by the officers using nonlethal means, one of the thibgs people will say is, "I wonder what his criminal background was like" or "I wonder what he was doing before they started the video." Even a few months ago when there was a video that was released that showed a cop shooting a guy in the back as he ran... hmmm, did he have a crappy past? If so then he deserved it.

Officers are not supposed to just kill suspects, they are supposed to bring them in for the judicial system to make a judgement on them ("judge" is the root of "judicial," you know?). This is why they are a suspect. the judicial system doesn't say, "we believe you murdered someone so we are going to execute you." Its supposed to prove it before they execute that person.

A guy could be a real scumbag with a history of petty theft, larceny, and a few DUI's, but does that mean it's okay for a cop to come blow him away when he's not engaged in a crime, or a cop suspects that he may have committed one? Did he murder anyone? Was he in the process of committing a murder? Did he pose an imminent threat of murdering the officers?

If not, then there was no justification for the officers killing him.

Disciplinary records of the officers would be part of a thorough investigation. It isn't so much that having clean records would exonerate them for what they did, but if either (or both) of them have prior history of excessive force or other questionable conduct, it might help support a case against them.

They knew what they did. The instant the shooting stopped - before the guy had even finished bouncing off the sidewalk - the one deputy was already turning away from him, looking around in all directions to see if anyone was watching. These two thugs lost control of the situation, allowed it to escalate to the point where they were amped up and looking for an excuse to shoot, and as soon as one let go the other started firing too.

They knew damned well he had no weapon, or they wouldn't have immediately turned away and started scoping around for potential witnesses. A man with a gun in his hand is still a deadly threat, even when he's down. There's no way an experienced cop turns away from a down man who may still be armed, turns their back on him and walks away, without checking to make sure the threat is negated - unless they already know there was no threat to begin with. The shots were still echoing when that one cop turned his back on him, and it was over 30 seconds before any officer even bothered checking to see if the man was armed. That's just not consistent with a scenario where the police truly believed the victim had a weapon, or even a possible weapon.

"Another execution by Police? "

I dunno. Do we have a video from another angle? That light pole is in the way, I can't see if he has anything in his hand or not.
