I think Ill just stay in the middle- I really cannot associate myself with any party- different people bring different things to the table- but I will distance myself form all the DO nothings and those what hurt their own people, as in the possible Govt shut down-- they wait until Sept to decide they have an agenda and then hold the FED workers hostage who have NOTHING to do with it. They are paid puppets and really until you get people who are not ruled by the highest bidder- ( lobbyist) by the way they write the LAWS__
Fat chance you will get good solid leaders. As for outsiders- they may not have-- yet...give them 2 yrs in office, instant fat cats and their mouth become forked tongues.. nah

Technically the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants are from Latin America with some from Asia. The number who are European is miniscule.

Purely anecdotal, but I've been noticing a lot more people on the Left start to distance themselves from the Left.
Like I am starting to see a lot of mainstream liberals starting to attack Progressives and others on the Left. I am also starting to notice Progressives (SJWs, Nanny Statists, etc.) started to dominate the Left and push out what were once stalwarts on the Left.
It is really obvious to me because I used to be a liberal (and in many ways I still regard myself as one), but it was the fact that Progressives left a really bad taste in my mouth that caused me to distance myself from the Left and eventually find a home in libertarianism. I saw the writing on the wall and realized that Progressives are basically soft-totalitarians. Sounds harsh, but when someone wants to have the final say over what you watch, read, listen to, smoke, eat, drink, and even who you have sex with; there is no other way to to refer to someone who wants to have control over the most intimate details of your life and over such mundane aspects of the public sphere.
I used to see myself as a "90s Liberal". Like think of some of the pop culture from the 90s like The Simpsons, Married... With Children, and so on. The type of liberalism that was somewhat cynical, suspicious of power and authority, indifferent to tradition, tolerant of dissent, and open minded. It was also liberalism that although it didn't trust the opposition; it never took itself too seriously and avoided patting itself on the back.
But around the Bush era, it really started to change. Both the Left and the Right became less willing to compromise and quicker to push out dissenters. Both Left-wing and Right-wing media quickly became echo chambers and that fostered intellectual incest and now we're starting to see the six-toed inbred spawn of both sides becoming more prominent.
Think of it this way, we went from Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley debating each other on live TV to a world where FOX News and Gawker are legitimate news and commentary media.
I have to keep laughing to keep myself from crying.
Wish I could rep you. I often point out the Milton Friedman appearance on Phil Donahue as the sort of civilized debate that was once the norm.
