Agreed. We just call them Latins/Latinos/Hispanics here. Even the Latins/Latinos/Hispanics call themselves Latins here, even if they are from Puerto Rico It definitely helps to speak Spanish, or at least make an attempt to. They are VERY patient with someone who at least tries.

The answer is a lot more complex than either a "yes" or a "no". It entirely depends on the situation.
In some ways, "white privilege" certainly exists. It's unfortunate that some Americans have been conditioned to sugarcoat absolutely everything. However, non-racial factors may lead to undesirable outcomes for a black individual, where "white privilege" is then used as an excuse. You have to investigate issues on a case-by-case basis and then discern whether "white privilege" was apparent or not.
I keep going back to what Rosen, a clear 1%er, did for Tangelo Park a few miles from where I am. They don't hate/resent/despise him--they love him.
It is burned in my mind what a black man in Ferguson said on TV after the world watched protesters burn Ferguson. He said all they need is an opportunity. Give them an opportunity and he will work hard to make it work. THIS is what we need to be doing--giving hope, help and opportunity, not just handouts, not just staying in power for racism sake:
