1) Black people are more likely to be arrested and serve longer sentences than whites who commit the same crimes at roughly the same rates.
2) It's well documented that identical resumes get an interview for the person with a white sounding name while the person with the black sounding name gets passed over.
The "Black" sounding names are just asking for trouble IMHO because they brand those people as "outsiders". Too; many people of ANY race who immigrated to the US as "free" people many times gave their US born kids "Anglo Saxon" names to help them fit in. Hint, hint.

There's a such thing as social oppression btw, it's not just economic. It's pretty oppressive out there for straight white males. Glad I at least get to carry around my gay card when I need it!
I don't think that goes for any races. How many families have that child who doesn't like what he sees in his relatives and rises above it. I do agree that hatred can be taught but it can also come from seeing things that are unfair. There are quotas in the work place where certain people get an unfair advantage at being hired because the government requires it but when one is choosing a professional ball team the quotas go right out the window. Why don't professional ball teams have to give a certain number of positions to white or other ethnic players?
