His family says he had no history of mental illness and nothing going on in the family to stress him out or be angry about. But others claim he could "seesaw in and out of rage" and neighbors said he'd been known to spend all day long shooting his guns. (The police found 15 guns at his home.) Interesting backstory: The shooter obtained a law enforcement degree from a local college in 1992 but he never enrolled in its police academy program after that. He's still not talking about why he did it.
I've never used Uber, but the attacks really had nothing to do with Uber. What was his profession besides Uber? The guy cracked, sad, but that is the truth of the matter.

He was an insurance adjuster and only worked for Uber for two weeks, had passed their background check. Uber is part of this story because he picked up passengers in between the shootings and scared the crap out of a few of them with his reckless driving. One couple wouldn't get in his car because he was driving a car that matched the description of the one the police were looking for. He was caught minutes later. Uber is cooperating and gave the police information about all his pickups that night so they can talk to them. They still don't know what set him off.
