The issue is the mental illness. And anyone can have a mental illness.
However, when a gun enthusiast develops mental illness he may have a proclivity to use the guns he loves. In other words the gun culture plays a role in the abnormal mind of people with mental illness. That is why I always pray a gun lover does not develop mental illness.
When was the last time you saw a non-gunlover go postal? When they go nuts they may do crazy things, but generally they do not have the firepower to do a lot a harm since they may not even know how to handle a pistol or a rifle.

You're assuming that an obsession with firearms pre-dates a growing estrangement from normal social interaction, and that isn't always the case -- probably not even the majority of cases.
There are, undoubtedly, instances where an alienated lone male, already well-trained in the use of a gun, descends into madness and decides to tale a large number of innocent bystanders with him -- to savage a pleasant scene from which social conventions, or his own refusal to accept them, has excluded him, (the restaurant massacres in Kileen, TX and San Ysidro, CA come to mind), but many of the most infamous (Littleton, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Sandy Hook and San Bernardino) involve individuals who acquired weapons well after a pattern of unstable behavior and/or irrational hatred had been identified -- and should have been restrained.
Saturation in violence by a media culture which fully understands that there's a very lucrative market in entertainment in which attractive young people do little more than "shed clothing and destroy property" might also be a factor here. That, and the contrasts between the fantasy-life portrayed in the big, and small screens, and the real-life regimentation of a classroom or the real-life tedium and quickly diminishing prospects of a dead-end job and/or a deteriorating relationship.
"We have met the enemy, and he is us." (Walt Kelly)

Your own default to the use of stereotyping and oversimplification is apparent throughout your post.

Freedom & liberties are scary.
Only the strong will survive it.
They already have places custom made for those that cannot be trusted to be free, with liberties.
It is called, the UK.
I will pay to get you there.

Some chick here just got a bad haircut and wanted to kill the stylist. She grabbed her boy friend's gun and attempted to shoot the guy but since she was clueless it didn't go off. This was not a "gun lover" you so love to toss around.
You are so afraid of gun owners it's hilarious.

Anyone can go postal, acquire a gun and do the deed. Waiting periods are meaningless.

Those who own guns tend to be part of a “social gun culture.” In a 2015 study, Bindu Kalesan, an assistant professor of epidemiology at Columbia University, found that there is a strong association between exposure to social gun culture and gun ownership.
Men who carry guns suffer from a “crisis of confidence.” It’s also about a crisis of confidence in the American dream.
Gun owners tend to be angry and impulsive.
There is a “co-occurrence of impulsive angry behavior and possessing or carrying a gun among adults with and without certain mental disorders and demographic characteristics.”Almost 9% of people who “self-report patterns of impulsive angry behavior” also have a firearm at home.
Those with racist views are more likely to oppose gun reform. In an October 2013 study, Kerry O’Brien, Walter Forrest, Dermot Lynott and Michael Daly concluded that “Symbolic racism [is] related to having a gun in the home.
What is your definition of gun-lover? I've known dozens of firearm owners and wouldn't say that any are gun lovers. What about chainsaw lovers, hammer lovers, or swimming pool lovers. Are you as bed-wettingly scared of them?
I think people that classify others as gun lovers exhibit signs of mental illness. I think people that think Americans should only be allowed to possess the firearms that somebody like you are okay with are mentally ill.
Do you realize that the vast majority of firearms in America have never and will never be used to commit crime? Do you even care?
What do you think?
