Robert Strupp, executive director of Baltimore Neighborhoods Inc., a fair housing advocacy group, said such attitudes are the main reason the city programs have had to operate without public notice.
"What I really took away from this was the fact that in order to get subsidized housing into the suburbs, you have to be sneaky about it," Strupp said. "Because if they found out about it in advance, they wouldn't let it happen.
“Every person deserves a fair shot at opportunity, and that starts with a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home,” HUD Secretary Julián Castro said in the March 15 announcement. “This agreement sets Baltimore County on a path to stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone can enjoy equal access to opportunity.”
The problem with this and I've seen it happen in a smaller city near me is those problems follow them where they go. There is lot of cheap housing in this area and the generous welfare benefits PA provides drive them here too. We had one incident where gang banger just about chopped some kids arm off which in this area is unheard of. There has been a steady influx of people from the NYC and other cities since the 90's and crime has risen right along with it. In 2013 the homicide rate for blacks in that community was like 200 and that's like more than 4 times the rate in Detroit, the county itself is like 2....
Of course they're doing this. After all, EVERYONE is entitled to live in wealthy neighborhoods.
Wouldn't it make more sense to spend the money developing the inner city economies and schools so that those people can WORK their way up? I know, I know, just kidding...
Seems like Chapaqua NY would be a great place to start this. Given Hillary's love for diversity and a black population of 0.01%.
OK, start with Mahhhtha's Vineyard, Beverly Hills, and the nice 'hoods of the Bay Area, not Oakland which is already a lesson in the ghetto normal people can't afford to live in
The powers that be can keep trying this, but if you don't want to read the whole book or watch the whole movie, I have the spoiler-Detroit.
