I have never understood why so many poor whites try to identify w/ upper income and rich whites. For the most part, rich whites do not care about poor white people.
Have you ever wondered what rich whites really think of you? Martin Shkreli (Former Retrophin and Turing Pharmaceutical CEO) has no problem disclosing to the world what he thinks of poor "hick" whites. Listen to the link below, During the argument, he states, "I own you." It doesn't get more blatant than this, but essentially it's true. It is amazing however that poor whites continue to align with people like trump. Trump probably thinks even less of poor whites.
True, he is a weirdo, but I love his blatant honesty. It provides a glimpse into what rich people really think of the poor and working class.
I am simply trying to understand why so many poor whites continue to align themselves with rich people, like trump... Trump thinks even lower of poor whites. I can only imagine what he says behind closed doors.
My guess is that they're convinced they'll become one of 'the club' (the rich elite) if they try hard enough. If they break their backs enough, vigorously defend them, and then pretend they're already them psychologically, they think they'll become one of them. They want to ingratiate themselves to the wealthy, and to big corporations, since they're seen as creators of opportunity.
It rarely actually works out that way (to the extent that they become wealthy themselves), but I guess it makes them feel like they have 'character' to suffer and support the status quo anyway (Puritan roots), so they're content with it regardless.

The irony is, 99.9% of poor whites will die in the very trailers and low income communities they were born in.They will never become middle class or rich.
Provided a bunch of cheap videos and no statistical data yet your title reads as if it as an all declaration of fact.
Hard data? Just do the research yourself. Take a look at the overall economic mobility for poor whites in the U.S.
I posted the video because it accurately depicts what the majority of rich whites really think of poor whites. Not even 2 minutes into their argument, Martin told the guy, "I own you." This is essentially what the elite firmly believe. Why is this so difficult to understand?
