I chose my battles. I don't like being told I am second class citizen, you shouldn't either.

I would have recorded the bigoted rant on video, asked for the manager, shown them the video and if the employee was not fired on the spot, the video would be posted to as many possible social media sites and sent to traditional TV and print media so Family Dollar would feel the pressure to take appropriate action. This notion that gay people should just suck it up and ignore the hatred is ridiculous. It is time to fight and make public displays of anti-gay bigotry as socially unacceptable as displays of overt racism.
If someone does not believe that women should be having sex with one another and they don't like it, they have a right to their opinion. A woman can love a woman but when it crosses over to a sexual relationship many people do not approve .

It is not bigoted because it is a behavior. It is not color of ones skin, it is a sexual act that many believe is deviant to the natural.

It is bigoted, because the cashier is demeaning and haranguing PEOPLE. The cashier is not being asked to participate in the behavior, or even to condone the behavior. The cashier is being asked to check people out of a store. When the cashier refuses to check people out, she is guilty of bigotry. She's free to disapprove of what these people do, she's not free to enforce her disapproval on them.

And you have a right to that opinion. But not the right to take action over it.

It is bigotry. Racism is only one type of bigotry. Other types of bigotry may very well be about behavior.

My daughter is gay, and she has learned that no amount of confrontation will change anyone's minds. So she just walks away.
Trivializing this woman's actions by assuming she was looking for " fame " is really disheartening.

She did the right thing.

As for your daughter, ask her about the history of gay rights. It was confrontation in the form of protests and NOT keeping silent that got people their rights.

You as a woman, are only " allowed " to have a credit card in your name without having your husband sign for it, because your sisters didn't
" just walk away ".

Ridiculous. The cashier knows nothing at all about the woman's "behavior." Unless the gay woman was having sex in the store, it's none of the cashier's business what her sexual orientation is. Who is she to make assumptions about the other woman's sex life? For all she knows, the woman's a 40-year old virgin.

If we're going down this road, what's next? Cashiers get to refuse service to people they suspect might have anal sex in the privacy of their homes? People she suspects might be living in sin? That'd be OK in your scenario, right?

How about you types mind your business and don't fantasize about what others do in their bedrooms?

LGBT rights are not about you approving of sex acts. These are none of your business. Unfortunately it requires a certain level of intelligence to understand this. You are probably so dim as to answer "if that's the case, stop "shoving it down our throats"."

This is what happens when conservatives get what they want while proclaiming that's all they're asking for.

It gets worse.

This is getting insane.
