To know is sometimes quite difficult. To believe is a lot easier. This clerk did not need to do more than believe.

Oh, for heavens sakes ... I'm getting tired and bored of these insignificant incidences being reported way out of proportion.

Don't get me wrong ... I abhor prejudice and discrimination ... what the dollar store clerk did was wrong and demeaning to the customer. Prejudice and discrimination happens every day and that is no excuse ... but there are a lot of bigots out there and I would hope the news media doesn't have to report every case.

If the topic is about HOMOPHOBIA and anti-gay discrimination, then let us talk about the evil and unconstitutional laws passed by local legislators in North Carolina and Mississippi. Let's talk about the disgusting and defamatory comments made by Ted Cruz and his supporters the hate group Family Research Council.

Individual cases of a store clerk dissing a paying customer is something company management can address, but it trivializes the real and far-reaching rights abuses targeting the LGBT community.

I'm not sure why you didn't read, but the article (and video if that's easier) say exactly how she knew. The cashier was ranting to people about her views on homosexuals and the woman in question spoke up after tiring of hearing her say whatever it was she was saying, telling the cashier she was gay. The cashier then refused to serve her, and apparently the man in front of the gay woman. I'm guessing the man also called the cashier out on being what she is; stupid.

Sorry..while this cashier may hold her own personal ( NOTE!! PERSONAL) beliefs against homosexuals...The Dollarstore ( or could be any other retailer big box store) would go broke IF all their cashiers refused to serve homosexuals/then Muslims because their belief system conflicted with theirs..the list could go on endlessly...Retail business indeed could go broke..why? because $$/sales means profits..and NO $$/sales means losses. Their lowly employee who makes minimum wage would cost that particular franchise $$$$$ Explain that to the Franchise owner LOL

ETA~~ Since when did $$$$$ transactions have any sexual connotation in a "Capitalism System"??

Of course she would be. This was her livlihood, and the reality is low skill workers do not have a wealth of options when it comes to employment.
