And if she is doing this to try to make some sort of statement, then shame on her and to everyone who supports her...

America is still a free country so she has the right to go somewhere else. There is no one twisting her arm to attend the Citadel.

What is going to happen when someone doesn't want to workout or they would rather sleep in then take that 10 mile hike that the drill sargent is ordering them to do before breakfast?
What about the woman or man that prefers their hair to be longer than the rules allow?

Since this woman is a devout muslim will she also require a special diet (no pork) at the mess hall?
If you sign up for the military you are also agreeing to follow the rules and traditions.

I'm sure there are many colleges that will accept this young woman with open arms.

Because Islam... the bossiest religion in human history.

How long before Loretta Lynch makes a speech about it, comparing the girl to Martin Luther King?

And The Citadel to the KKK.

That's the level of dialogue I've come to expect from the miscreants at the DOJ.

I suspect her family will sue and probably win and yet another tradition will be struck down as "antiquated and non PC".

How long will it be until another student brings a lawsuit for a transgendered changing room? I wonder if the head scarf girl would be OK stripping down to change in front of a man that identifies as a woman ?
the bold argument doesnt make sense seeing as this is a cultural and religious stance, not a PC and/or outdated argument

other students are barred from showing any religious symbols or individuality. She's doing this on purpose to push the envelope, and then people wonder why there is resentment. everyone else has had to follow their dress code for nearly 200 years. but no, not her. God forbid she should should pick another school.

It sounds like a lawsuit is likely.

Quote:
In a statement, CAIR senior staff attorney William Burgess said, “The Citadel violated the student’s right to a religious accommodation under the First Amendment and the South Carolina Religious Freedom Act, which makes it illegal for a state institution to place a burden on a person’s ability to practice his or her faith without the most compelling justification.

“We believe the desire to maintain an outdated ‘tradition,’ which was the same argument used to initially deny admittance to African-Americans and women, does not justify violating a student’s constitutional rights. Our nation’s military currently accommodates religious attire in the form of headscarves, beards and turbans. The Citadel should offer the same accommodations.
No comparison at all! The school does not have an outright ban on Muslims the way they did women or blacks, whose tax dollars were still supporting the institution. This is regulating a behavior, which a person can choose to engage in or not. Would she also demand relief from whatever she's doing five times a day to pray toward Mecca? What if someone's religion calls for a public naked rain dance as they sacrifice a goat? Laws must be applied equally...can't tell the Muslim student they can pray but the naked goat killer can't. And if you think I'm being far-fetched you haven't investigated some of the religious sects out there...

I eagerly await Hillary's campaign ad showing proud female Muslim American cadets in their military greys with hijab. Right after her ad touting anatomically male transgender access to women's restrooms (which should go over well with hijab-wearing Muslim women) right after her ad promising amnesty to illegal squatters (which of course will be in Spanish with English subtitles for you mono-lingual xenophobes).

Just call us the Divided States of America.

If she cannot conform then she does not belong. Tell her to go to study to Saudi Arabia.
