Welfare Tampons

"Menstrual equity" now. This country is a heap of garbage.

I don't see the problem...On another note women's health products are more expensive than the same counterpart for men-doesn't make sense.

How did people ever survive before the government provided free feminine hygiene products? Agreed, we are supremely F'd up.

Seconded - seems pretty common-sense. Surprised it's news...

Well, there's free toilet paper, soap, and other amenities in public facilities. Sanitation is good for public health as it helps prevent communicable diseases/illnesses. Should you be charged per wipe?

[please tell me you wash your hands]

Just donate your welfare condoms.....used maybe once and still has some sort of lube on them....at least you could curtail some of their breeding....

I get the shelters. I get correctional facilities. But schools?

Quote:
Schools: Through her Let Girls Learn initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama deemed the provision of tampons and pads an issue of educational equity. Inability to access menstrual products can affect attendance and productivity, a finding documented over and over again in developing countries. The cost of tampons or pads, at $7 – $10 each month, can be one expense too many for struggling families. And unlike toilet paper — which is freely available in public and school restrooms, funded by city budgets and viewed as essential to everyday health and sanitation — those living in poverty are left to access tampons and pads on their own.
What next? Soap? Deodorant? Clothing? Shoes?

And I'm wondering when people in power are going to encourage those in poverty not to have dogs, buy alcohol or smoke cigarettes or weed. Those might free up additional dollars to put toward hygiene products each month.

Exactly. Normal people have to buy the basics first before they buy their wants. Not leftist voters though.

This and the free birth control is a really sad reflection of the feminist movement. Feminism was supposed to be "we're equal to men". Demands for free tampons and birth control screams "we're too inept to take care of ourselves at the most basic level".

The feminists traded husbands for government programs. Either way, a lot of women expect to be taken care of by someone.

Have you ever spoken up with the same fervor against toilet paper being available in "public schools, shelters and corrections facilities"? Just curious.

I'm informed it's quite common for school restrooms to have soap next to the sink. One of them hygiene things.
