That is irrelevant. Stop living in the past and get on with bettering your life is all it's about. The more you play the victim and rely on the excuses of the past, the more you will find yourself falling behind. Enough is enough already, it's about the individual doing what needs to be done. Stop the excuses already.
Many American blacks have ZERO tradition of academic achievement. They come from a system where there was no family and no tradition of achievement. Their heritage is completely different from the Jews.
This suboptimal heritage engineered by the slavery system is what causes the oppression. And this cannot change overnight. Allowing blacks to go to schools and the bathrooms, electing black mayors, and Obama does not change the basic heritage of slavery. That is why blacks born and raised in Africa often outperform American blacks. The former may not have the slavery heritage.
Why do you only look at history to colonial America? History goes back much further than that. Many slaves had African heritage that probably has many sources of pride and achievement. Why only focus on the worst time? Is it because it is most recent?
Whoa...whoa... blacks have just as much power as anyone else - if they choose to put forth the effort and put themselves in a position to use it.
Gotta put away the myth that we are helpless victims because of our skin color. It is a total lie.
People are usually helpless because of bad life choices, and they have children and bring them into a bad situation and multiply the problem.
The OP is one of the self-appointed caretakers of blacks. You must believe in your victimhood and have faith that you may not thrive or prosper without their supervision, protection and benevolence.
I don't understand why more blacks don't push back and reject people who perpetuate the OP's mindset. It seems highly offensive to me, racist even, nothing like the silliness that offends the masses today.
But then what do I know. I'm just a guilt-free white man who has known mostly middle and upperclass educated blacks.
Blacks have little power and remain victims of their history in the US.
What can be done?
Stop electing Democrats. They have a vested interest in keeping Blacks oppressed so they can perpetually cast them as "victims."
Don't believe it? Look at what REALLY happens in blue (Democrat) states and cities. Blue states/cities are NOTORIOUS for being NIMBY racist. Middle class and poor liberals/Dems are just too ignorant and/or ill-informed to see what's going on.

You are talking about the academic achievement. I'm talking more about violence, lack of family values and lack of work values. Nobody here has a problem with hard working blacks in Burger King or in other jobs that not require PHD. Yes, I agree, not everyone can be a rocket scientist. But even the non-educated can be law abiding citizens and have family values.
The reason why blacks born in Africa outperform AA is because they are usually the elite of Africa: Students and engineers. I don't think that average African African can outperform AA.

You're right. The backwards, living in the past victimhood class hasn't even left their own closets. They will NEVER be achievers if they don't, just more blame shifting whiners.
I came up poor....and I'm not rich, but pretty well to do...didn't get myself involved with drugs, drink or any other bad habitual habits and I've worked all my life, since I was 13 years old, as many of us were taught, respect for ourselves...that if we wanted something we had to work for it. My parents would have never taken anything from anyone, and yet, they helped out others as much as they could.
This is what I am talking about------FOO is SO important! And sadly some blacks have the worst FOO in the planet. Why is this so hard to see by right wingers?
