I am so sick and tired of entitled seniors. Universal health care for 65 and older? How about universal health coverage for everyone or no one. Seniors vote all these benefits for themselves but I pay for it. Seniors were against health coverage for citizens younger than they are but want those same citizens without health coverage to pay for seniors.
Further, one in five seniors is also on Medicaid. That's right, one in five seniors collects Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. And let's not forget the unfunded Medicare Part D because seniors just can't suck up enough money for themselves while complaining about everyone else.
- Few seniors have actually paid for their Medicare benefits. According to an Urban Institute estimate, the typical retired couple paid $122,000 in lifetime Medicare taxes but can expect to receive benefits worth $387,000. Social Security is another story. There, the average retired couple paid $600,000 in lifetime taxes for $579,000 in benefits. Put together, it's $722,000 in taxes for $966,000 in benefits. (All figures are adjusted for inflation.)
I would have no problem with states running their own health care as long as my state could implement a five or ten year qualification period so people from other states couldn't run to my state when they get sick. I would want an extremely long qualification period. They can hold their own state accountable, not run to my state.
That's can't be right. I was told by the liberals that the government can do no wrong.
Yes, thank you for illustrating how similiar the left and right are.
And while we're at it, let's end other forms of corporate welfare, like illegal immigration, low minimum wages supplemented by taxpayer funded food stamps, Medicaid, etc.
1. There's nothing wrong with health care in this country.
2. They'd better keep their hands off Medicare.
3. CHIPS is a Medicaid program.
4. You can't limit Medicaid to only those on disability. Those receiving welfare are generally enrolled in Medicaid, and should be. What needs to happen is that qualifying for assistance should be more stringent. And those on disability qualify for Medicare after 2 years, anyway.
5. "Disability" should be narrowly defined. Plenty of people work every day with "back pain," along with the infirmities that came towards the end of their 25, 30, or 35 years of work.
6. I have no idea what you said about the EITC. But the entire program is an annual handout of thousands of dollars (that's each), and it encourages fraud. It should be chucked.
That makes a grand total of one person who thinks so.
People on food assistance should get only basics sent to their house. Basically the stuff needed to keep the alive. No brand names and no luxury items like snacks or dessert.
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a nonprofit D.C.-based think tank, estimates that as many as 340,000 veterans rely on federal or state rental assistance. About 900,000 veterans live on food stamps, and an additional 5,000 active-duty service members are food stamp recipients.Dec 9, 2013
There should be universal healthcare for any soldier serving 8 year's of active duty and be eligible at any time to dip into a federal welfare program just for Vets. However, it should be income capped at say $50,000.
Welfare benefits in general auld be capped at $50,000 or if people are dipping into them making above $50,000 should be taxed accordingly.
Our soldiers shouldn't need to receive federal assistance while serving. Wages should be increased.
Minimum wage should be a living wage with no minimum. It should reflect on average COL in the State. The wage can deflate or inflate yearly based on fluctuation of COL.
