This is nothing new. "The shores of Tripoli" - Marine Corp anthem; the Barbary Coast pirates was about not paying ransom to a bunch of ME latter day terrorist. Lots of things about the founding of our country from the Constitution to standing up to ransom demands are out of date now. Old fashioned. The Founders couldn't have anticipated..... My donkey's posterior.

We must progress, now.

The USA has a long standing code to NOT pay a ransom because it paints a Target on the back of every American -- of course that was before TeamObama Transformed America.

Yeah, we can trust our government.
The transaction was designed to be secretive. Other government agencies would have been able to see such a large transfer. This stinks on so many levels. This one won't go away my friends. Being lectured about how wonderful the diplomatic skill demonstrated is nauseating. Someone will get fired again on this one.

Those frozen assets must still be frozen and still illegal to send US dollars to Iran. The case has not yet been litigated.
Why would Iran say Obama paid a ransom?

It's good propaganda in Iran.

Electronic transfers are complicated and need to go through 3rd country intermediaries, one of the reasons the hostage negotiation under Carter failed.

The WSJ indicates it coincided with the hostage release in January. They are going to get their money at some point, if they gave it to them in Feb or March is it still a ransom?

The 400 million went to Iran with the help of the Dutch government. I'm not surprised as Mark Rutte the Minister President of Holland is always speaking highly of Obama and doesn't like Trump.

We have been following Dutch media and Dutch journalist Facebook pages and it is all biased reporting and therefore it is not strange that we back in the days always favored a Democrat while living in Holland as conservatives in the Netherlands are way more too the left than over here.

We favored Al Gore when we came here but soon after getting for the first time a chance to hear both sides and not biased European CNN, we learned a totally different side and switched to the conservative side as the man made global warming bs never was something we were buying.

Al Gore basically filled his pocket with that scam.
