Yes indeed! The hurricane hit on August 29th, while President Bush was on vacation. As of the day of the hurricane, he was on day 27 of his vacation in Crawford, Texas.

Mr. Bush flew back to Washington D.C. on August 31st. To shown his concern for the suffering people of Louisiana, President Bush ordered that Air Force One fly over part of the devastated area, so he could look down grimly from his window*. He invited the press corps on board to photograph him so looking. He then arrived safe and sound in Washington D.C., to the admiration of all.

Anyway, I do not, myself, blame President Bush for not landing, for it would have been a nightmare of logistics for the people on the ground. I feel the same today. It did not matter concerning Mr. Trump, for his secret service detail is on the plane with him, but the President requires more protection and logistics.

Fires are burning like mad in California, and I think it would be the height of irresponsibility for anyone, President and presidential candidates, to announce that they wish to view a fire in person.

*Remember that marvelous scene from the beginning of Mel Brook's "High Anxiety", in which the camera, outside of a plane, showed the faces of the happy passengers looking out the airplane window as they land? When the camera pan reached Mr. Brooks, he had a face of horror. That is how I like to imagine Mr. Bush looking.

Please indicate how this is revisionist. It is factual. See my follow up post with a direct quote from Obama criticizing Bush for flying over and visiting in person soon enough.

Going HOME is NOT a vacation, especially when he met international dignitaries there.

He's hiding his debt, his payments to politicians, his tax deductions for bankruptcy......it's part of the campaign like Ms Clinton's emails. President Obama won his election(s). They weren't even close, were they?

not really.

trump currently refuses to release his tax returns, a practice that has become standard for presidential candidates for the past 40 years. those are facts.

if people were to claim that they know with 100% certainty that trump's tax returns list his wife's occupation as "escort", that would put them on par with the birthers.
