The fear mongering over food, is nothing but that fear mongering by a corrupt MSM. It's not going to happen. Those EU countries will come begging because they need that trade. Why would the Netherlands, Germany and France want to put that many farmers out of work?
If you can't see the sudden shift in the tenor of the dialogue, that doesn't speak very well of your powers of perception. Oh, I forgot - it's all engineered by wicked MSM.

What exactly would be the benefits of importing food from the US instead of the EU and other countries outside, why change. Largest amount of imports of food are from Ireland and France, are they going to suddenly redirect to the US. Just one of many issues with Brexit.

Great question. The only reason to change is if the EU decides to basically enact an administrative embargo against the UK the day that Brexit becomes effective, because they do not want to encourage other countries to leave by allowing the free flow of trade to continue uninterrupted.

None of this has to happen. But if it does, the other countries of the world will be virtually climbing over the top of each other to take advantage of this opportunity to try to displace the EU in providing whatever goods and services the UK wants or needs to buy.

Mark it down.

It's going to be so much better to get food by ship from across the Atlantic instead of a Dover-Calais ferry. Freshness, who needs it.

Brexit would have never happened if Trump has been the US president at the time of the vote. He is intensely disliked in the UK.

Really ?
I know lots of people who quite like his dealings with Europe such as insisting all countries pay their proper share of the NATO budget.
And putting that fool Macron in his place.

Which European country supplies the EU with bananas and pineapples ?
The tomatoes I ate yesterday came from Israel as did the avocado.
I had a wonderful apple last week imported from South Africa.I don't like oranges but I could have had one from there too.
And everyone likes a steak too - you'd be surprised how much of it eaten in the UK comes from Africa and Brazil.

Seriously? You think the British were thinking of US Presidents when they voted for Brexit!? I fail to see the connection.

We have a substantial segment of the Democrat left here that is truly obsessed with President Trump. Any political topic, they see it through the lens of their pathological hatred for him. Here in the US, this affliction is commonly referred to as Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS for short.

This is what you are encountering in the post that you responded to above.

Funnily enough in the UK there is also Brexit Derangement Syndrome or BDS for short.

Among the most prominent BDS sufferers and the ones who offer the most comic relief at the moment are a " philosopher and author " who you never have heard of called AC Grayling.

https://twitter.com/acgrayling?ref_s...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Then there's an unelected peer called Lord Adonis who rails against the undemocratic referendum.Quite apart from being the exact opposite of an Adonis he is borderline loopy with his BDS.

https://twitter.com/Andrew_Adonis?re...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Bringing up the rear is Tony Blair's former spin doctor and the man who helped propel the UK into an illegal war based on false intelligence about WMDs.

https://twitter.com/campbellclaret?r...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

The great thing is these three cretins are the greatest help to the Leavers side as they help portray the Remainers as unhinged.

Mind you,as in the US,the vast majority of the MSM including the BBC is liberal and have successfully managed to drag their journalism from the gutter to the sewer by their continued inaccurate, untrue and biased reporting.

And in academia it's a brave scholar or lecturer who wears their Brexit colours openly for fear of damaging their career prospects in a profession as dim-witted and cloth-eared as education.
